Success Stories: March 2009 – September 2009
In July 2009, a Vacation Peace Education School Program (VPESP) was developed Two international volunteers from the USA assisted with the VPESP Over 400 grade school and university students, community leaders, and educators benefitted from a six-week intensive training in Peer Mediation, Conflict Resolution, and Job Skills Development Twenty Peer Mediation Networking Groups (PMNG) were established in forty communities to promote the Culture of Peace One Zone of Peace established September 6, CPE commemorated “Day of Prayer for World Peace” and “Day of Peace” by graduating students and officially launching the Center for Peace Education in Liberia. http://www.liberianobserver.com/node/1392 Center for Peace Education appeared on various radio talk shows, newspapers articles, public announcements, community bulletin boards to promoting the Culture of Peace Thirteen schools have asked CPE to establish PMNGs in their various schools and teach Peace Education as subject for academic year 2009 – 2010 For the First Time, the Center for Peace Education is teaching PEACE EDUCATION as a subject in various grade schools located in Brewerville and Virginia – Liberia.
