Happy Easter! 31 March 2013 Dear ICMICA members and friends, Wishing everyone a Blessed Contemplative Easter 2013. As we celebrate Christ’s victory over death and the liberation of the human soul, let us deeply reflect and contemplate on the crisis facing the global community especially in the global south. Starting from the Holy Thursday message which reminds us of the values of humility and “servanting” where the gesture of washing the feet calls us to wash the feet of others symbolizing unconditional service to the poor and marginalized. We take to heart the urgent need to wash away structural sins of power abuse, war, violence, economic injustice, corruption, gender discrimination, racism, degradation of the environment and all other crimes against human life and against the whole of creation. And after that, we contemplated on the Passion of Christ where we remembered the teachings of Jesus, His humility, compassion, love, self-sacrifice and observance of both the Old and New Covenants. May we be inspired to put our heart, mind and body together and take concrete actions on the matters that need the most urgent attention in the service of the poorest of the poor. Last but not least, wishing everyone a Hopeful Easter which must be shared with those at the Peripherals of the Society. Let’s take the extra effort to go to them, listen and talk to them as inspired by Pope Francis who reminds us: “We must step outside a tired way of living faith and go to the outskirts of existence” and “Being with Jesus demands that we go out from ourselves, and from living a tired and habitual faith.”
