Jewelry of Jabal Nafusa The Amaziegh of North Africa were excellent at carving stone – and were masters of Mosaic

crafts, but never were they the artisans of jewelry nor silversmiths. They left art of smiting silver to the Libyan Jews. Silver and golden jewelry was Jewish art par-excellence in Libya since ancient history. But the form of the jewelry was controlled by the demanding market: Libyan women of the City, mountain and the desert. Hence we find it haunted by amulets magical pendants and so on.
