Meet the Newest Addition to the Lotus Family
First All New Lotus in 10 years Launches in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs

The Eastern Suburbs, home of Style & Class, now also hosts the new Lotus showroom. Sharing floor space with another iconic brand, the Bentley, the prestigious duo can be seen at the Trivett Group showroom on William St. ES TV were invited to the NSW launch of the Lotus Evora by David Jackson, General Manager of Bentley Sydney and attendees were welcomed by the Executive Chairman of the Trivett Group, Gregory Duncan and Jonathon Stretton, Sales and Marketing Manager, Lotus Cars Australia. Guests were greeted by a phalanx of waiters serving cocktails, premium wine and boutique beer as well as a range of gourmet canapés. Johnny Walker, regular partner of the showroom provided guests with Johnny Walker Gold on the rocks or in a range of unusual but appealing cocktails. But the guests were there for one reason and the tension leading up to the unveiling is obvious in ES TV reporter Diane B’s story (see video) as she counts down the minutes to the launch.

Duncan was obviously moved as he recounted the Lotus history and the association between Lotus and Trivett Group which goes back many years and has recently been revived. The Evora is the first all new model released by Lotus in ten years. It is the world’s only mid-engined 2+2 sports car and this writer was itching to take it for a spin but unfortunately the centerpiece of the event is a factory model that travels the world starring at such launches and was whisked away the next day to fly back to Europe. Thus while this writer has not driven the car yet (the first models arrive in Australia in August) I can report that it is a sleek number and this is one car you will definitely have to kick the kids out of when you drive them to school. A Quick Run Down of Features

Evora’s seating will offer two adjustable leather covered Recaros as standard equipment, with a 2+2 configuration with rear ISOFIX child anchorage points. Other cabin features include a flat-bottomed steering wheel with new power-assistance, edgelit bespoke controls, along with storage bins and consoles, a 160-litre boot that will accommodate a full set of golf clubs, and a boot cooling system to minimise engine heat ingress. Though thoroughly equipped in standard specification, some of these features are included as part of the three optional packs that allow personalisation to tailor the Evora for specific tastes and requirements. The packs are detailed as follows:

The Premium Pack includes accent interior lighting a number of leather trim and matching floor mat colours including Charcoal (black), Paprika (red), Chestnut (Tan) and Oyster (magnolia). The Tech Pack includes cruise control and parking sensors and an advanced Alpine Imprint EQ stereo that is also a highly functional multi-media system. The Alpine system features a seven-inch touch screen, iPod connectivity, DVD player, Bluetooth hands-free phone compatibility and a low tyre-pressure warning. The system also features satellite-navigation that is removable, allowing the unit to be used in a pedestrian way independent of the car. A reversing camera is also incorporated into the screen. The Alpine Imprint EQ sound system also uses technology that cancels out sound imbalances such as echoes from glass or absorption by carpets, resulting in amazingly crisp, clear undistorted sound from any seat. Finally, the Sport Pack is designed for the performance driver, with a switchable sport dynamic setting, sports springs and dampers, cross drilled brake discs, upgraded grilles for added cooling and painted brake callipers. Takeaway Whether you are single, a couple or a young couple with a family this is a car that you will all enjoy. A great weekender, it will make the trip at least as enjoyable as the destination.
