Snappers Snap 15 Year Drought by Defeating Andrew College

Franklin County, Pa. The Snapper squad open up their new season with a win over conference foe Andrew College 123-90. The Black and Gold broke a 15 year losing streak vs. Andrew College on Friday night. The team was emotionally and physically prepared for this meet and swam with perfection. In the distance events, senior captain Michaela Stanton swam her 40 lap race with a time of 11:36.58 just touching out Katie Island of Andrew College for the 1st place win. In the same race, senior captain Emma Robertson had a race down to the last stroke. In the last 50 yards, Emma raced exceptionally smart and pulled out the 3rd place finish with a time of 11:39.68.

In the shorter freestyle event of 200 yard freestyle, sophomore Chelsea Evanson had a tremendous swim of the new season in this event by placing 2nd overall with a time of 2:00.36, followed by classmate Kylie Cleary who touched in 3rd with a time of 2:01.57. The 200 yard breaststroke senior captain Amanda Goodman posted an outstanding time of 2:36.59 by placing 3rd overall. Another stellar performance tonight was in the 100 yard backstroke, were freshman Lily Johns crushed the competition with a first place time of 1:05.55. The main highlight of tonight's fantastic performance by the Black and White proved to be in the last relay, as the Snappers snagged the first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The combined relay effort of Lily Johns, Morgan Dailey, Harper Stone and Kylie Cleary led the Snappers to victory with a final time of 1:46.36 over Andrew College time of 1:46.44. The Black and Gold finished out the meet exceptionally well and was rewarded with a win in over 15 years against powerhouse Andrew College. Head Coach Scott Ward stated after the win vs. Andrew College, this season womens team has started something special by defeating a team like the Skylarks and hopefully we can make another statement in February at SPACs. The Snappers will return to action in the first tri-meet of the season when they will take on Belvedere University and Brunskwick University on Saturday November 9, in Bowman Natatorium.
