04-09-13 The Seymour Police Department is currently investigating a street robbery and a bank robbery which occurred this afternoon at the Webster Bank located at 15 New Haven Rd., Seymour, CT. At approximately 03:00 P.M. the Seymour Police Department received several 911 calls reporting a robbery in progress. Police Officers were immediately dispatched and responded to the bank and confirmed a robbery had taken place. The Seymour Police Detective Division responded and began an investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed a bank customer was sitting in his vehicle in the Webster Bank parking lot. The male sitting in his vehicle was approached by a male subject who smashed the driver’s window on the patron’s vehicle and robbed the patron at gunpoint. The male suspect then ran inside the Webster Bank and immediately displayed a black handgun. The suspect climbed over the Bank Tellers counter and filled a small black backpack with money from the Bank Tellers money drawer. After gathering an undetermined amount of money the suspect exited the bank through the front door and drove away in a green Ford Taurus vehicle which was later located in Beacon Falls. It is believed the suspect then switched vehicles and drove away from the area in a red Toyota Prius with an accomplice. The suspect is described as a black male approximately 5’6” tall with a stocky build. The suspect was wearing black shoes, blue style sweatpants with camouflage style pants underneath the sweatpants. The suspect wore a navy blue, hooded, zippered style sweat jacket with white sleeves and wore a mask, possibly a stocking, along with the hooded jacket to conceal his identity. The suspect was also wearing black colored mechanic style gloves and carried a small black backpack. These robberies remain under investigation. Reward money is also available for information which leads to an arrest and conviction of the suspect.
