Vocabulary Expert: Your job is to be on the lookout for important words in the assigned passage. Look for words that are puzzling or unfamiliar. You may also run across familiar words that stand out somehow in the reading - words that are repeated a lot, are used in an unusual way, or provide a key to the meaning of the text. Mark these special words, and be ready to point them out to the group.

Responsibilities of the Vocabulary Expert:

Find 4 words that are difficult to define, unusual and/or have something in common Record the page reference For a word that is difficult to define -look it up & record the definition -use the word in a new sentence that your classmates will relate to -show why this word is a good choice For a word that is unusual (or for a series of words that have something in common) show why the author chose this word When your circle meets, help members find and discuss these words. Participate in the group discussion
