Assessment Plan for__Chemical Equilibrium: Le’ Chatelier’s Principle

Grade(s) 12th Subject(s)_Advanced Chemistry

Standard(s): C5.3a Describe equilibrium shifts in a chemical system caused by changing conditions (Le Chatelier’s Principle). C5.3b Predict shifts in a chemical system caused by changing conditions. (Le Chatelier’s Principle.) C5.3c Predict the extent reactions are converted to products using the value of the equilibrium constant. List each assessment in the order you plan to use them.
Name of Assessment* & brief description of method/format  Formal or Informal?  Summative or Formative? Purpose – What do you want to know from this information? Who will use the information? Describe your plans for how they will use the information? Be specific for each user. What is the info (data) that will be collected? Describe it specifically—what does it look like? Include your plans for how the information will be recorded.

Pair and Share. Students will pair with their neighbors to discuss concepts learned in the lesson.

Informal Formative

I want to observe student discussing concepts and paraphrasing their learning to ach other. If a student doesn’t understand and one does, I want the student who understands to explain it to the one who doesn’t. I will use the information to see if they are learning and the students will use the information to identify what they know or need to know better. For this assessment, I want to know if students understand the mathematics behind the concepts covered in chemical equilibrium. If students are not getting the math correct, I want to identify if they are making simple math mistakes or if they do not understand how to solve the problems based on the concepts.

Formal Formative Ticket Out The Door. With five minutes left in class, the students will receive an equilibrium problem that they must solve and turn in to me on their way out

The information that will be collected is audial and visual in nature. I will observe that the student are discussing the material and decide if they are understanding the content or if they are still confused. If students are not understanding, I will go over the material again with different examples or with a different method of explaining. The data collected will be who does and who doesn’t understand the math portion of chemical equilibrium. For those that do not demonstrate mastery, this data will help me to identify what is causing them to get incorrect answers. This data will not be graded, but I ay record in on a piece of paper or store it in my memory to note which students need more practice.

of class. Quiz on Le’ Chatlier’s Principle: A prewritten multiple choice quiz to asses how well students are understanding chemical equilibrium. Chemical Equilibrium Chapter 17 Unit Test: An end of unit test tat measures the LT’s identified through multiple choice, fill in the blank, and short answer. Formal Formative The purpose of this assessment is to find out how well students are mastering the scientific concepts behind chemical equilibrium. Specifically, Le’ Chatelier’s Principle. The data collected here is in a multiple choice format where the questions are all catered towards LT’s that specifically have to do with Le’ Chateliers. I will use this information to see if we can move on in the unit or if another day needs to be devoted to studying this chemical principle. The students will use this data to identify what concepts they struggle with individually and I will use it to identify what subjects the whole class struggles with. It will be recorded in my grade book. This assessment is designed to measure whether The data collected from this assessment will be students have mastered the Learning Targets collected through a point system. Each LT has a presented for the unit on chemical equilibrium. I will series of questions that will indicate whether use the information to see what changes need to be students have met the objective or not. As the made to my instructional strategies to increase data is collected, I will be able to see how many student success. I will also use the information when points out of a total amount of points a student it comes time to review for final exams. Student who received regarding a certain objective. This fail to achieve the grade they want will have the information will be recorded in my grade book option to take a test re-do for some points back. and on an excel sheet to be able to map the average score my students earned for each objective.

Formal Summative
