trenduri sau apariii de marc n aceast bran: Alessi, Antares-Flos, Artelano, Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Kartell, B&B Italia, Bosa, De Vecchi, Fasem, Kartell, Livit, MDF Italia, Molteni & C., Moroso and Tronconi, Knoll, Moroso, Sag 80, and Somma. O mulime de firme, toate care impun personalitate i originalitate pe piaa mondial de design, nume care doresc a se impune cu o puternic personalitate. i cu toate acestea, toate au ceva n comun: Patricia Urquoila. Extrem de special, mereu cu o tu personal, foarte feminin dar i tehnic, n acelai timp, creaiile acetei doamne arhitecte, cu studii la Madrid, sub ndrumarea lui Achille Castiglioni, ne ncnt i ne surprind de fiecare dat. La prima vedere nu poi afirma c exist ceva care poate trda semntura artistei. Lucrrile sale spun fiecare alt poveste i folosesc, aproape de fiecare data alt limbaj de forme i materiale. De exemplu seria NUB, compus din scaune i banchete, n diferite combinaii de culori, din lemn, este inspirat din amintiri din copilrie cnd, dup cum ea nsi povestete: obinuiam s m joc cu ghemele din care bunica mea croeta dantelntotdeauna incorporez pri din viaa mea domestic, privat sau din trecutul meu n proiectele mele.

Patricia Urquoila s-a nscut la Olviedo, Spania, n 1961. a absolvit Facultatea de Arhitectur a Universitii Tehnice din Madrid n 1989. ntre 1990 i 1992 a fost lector pentru Achille Castiglinoni i Eugenio Bettinelli amndoi la Politehnica din Milano i E.N.S.C.I., Paris. Produsele ei au fost selectate pentru expoziia Italian Design 2001 i pentru Caietul annual de design 1999 i 2001. tot n 2001 a fost preedinta juriului pentru a XIX-a ediie a premiului CDIM Design Award. n ultimii ani a primit numeroase

premii, incluznd A&W Designer of the Year i Design Prize Cologne. n 2011 seria ei de vaze All Ambiq a fost expus la Glasstress, un eveniment al Bienalei din Veneia. Actualmente are prpriul ei studio la Milano, unde lucrez, n domeniul designului, expoziiilor i arhitecturii.

CROSSING-GLASS ITALIA Colecia Crossing Glass este compus din mese joase sau nalte, executate din panouri laminate din sticl transparent, de o claritate exraordinar, cu un model spaial de linii i valuri, lipite ntre ele. Datorit modului n care decorarea sticlei se face n masa sa, aspectul lor se schimb n funcie de punctul de observaie. Acest efect este ajutat de mosul de compunere al planurilor din cristal de sticl.

HUSK/B&B ITALIA Husk este o serie de scaune formate dintr-o scoic de plastic ce st pe cteva modele de picioare, din metal sau lemn, acomodat de perne foarte moi, din piele, cu o custur ptrat. Este rezultatul unui ndelung proces de design dar i de fabricaie care a cutat dezvoltarea unui produs ct mai confortabil i versatil dar i original i estetic. Modelul are trei tipuri de perne, standard, mare i foarte mare, cu loc de odihn pentru cap. Suportul se poate roti n jurul axei centrale. Seria este alctuit dintr-un joc bogat de culori i materiale, att la partea dur ct i la perne fapt ce permite realizarea unor variante complet originale, n aceeasi colecie. Fabricantul, B&B Italia, atinge i actualul subiect al produsului regenerabil, ecologic, prin paleta de materiale folosit.

SI LVER LAKE /MORSO Silver Lake is a Patricia Urquiola creation that offers us an architectural memory inspired by the Californian modernism of the 50s. The Silver Lake range is composed of three sofas, two armchairs and a small armchair displaying a continuous geometric interplay of solids and voids, with volumes creating many-sided polyhedral forms. Silver Lake takes and retains from the 50s a scrupulous choice of materials, whose physical and chromatic qualities are enhanced by a meticulous, deliberate combination of contrasting surfaces. Wood, steel, fabric or leather in a sculptural synthesis that, indirectly, brings to the surface today the Utopian vision of the 50s. Silver Lake is the name of a Los Angeles neighbourhood that is famous for its architecture and today hosts numerous architecture firms and creative agencies.

She has taken a very original approach to classic capitonn work, giving it a revolutionary modern look. Creating emotions. Patricia's family of products sofa, bergre, chaise longue, armchair and pouf have very fluid forms, almost as if they were melting over their frame, creating soft, irregular, enveloping, almost casual lines, where the fabric or leather is fixed to the shell with press-studs. A classically-shaped sofa appears to be "wearing" a shawl thrown over its shoulders. The

capitonn fabric shawl is fixed with press-studs to emphasise the idea of "wearing" an outfit. The seat is covered with various kinds of cushions, fabric layers which alternate technical textiles and faux fur with others inspired by Mongolian rugs. The result is a sophisticated product displaying an almost maniacal research into an extraordinarily rich upholstery which layers different leathers and other materials and mixes cultures and traditions, colours and textile-working techniques. A form of luxury patchwork for a sofa with a nomadic, global spirit. Very contemporary. A modern slant on a classic. This fresh approach was only possible thanks not least to Moroso's manual ability and know-how. The first is an armchair, archetypal of relax, given its soft supporting and comfortable form, the high back, arm and seating adapt to the body, fitting around it, following its contours and anticipating its movements. The essential and light frame takes shape thanks to the use of new materials and new production technologies, while the visible stitching emphasises contemporaneity. The armchairs are objects of effective daily use, however, they maintain the feature of comfort and can be used in any public area.
