Question 1 A series DC motor has field resistance of 65 and armature resistance of 15 .

The motor is supplied with a voltage source of 300 V DC and has a mechanical load of 9 Nm. Assuming a linear model for the motor, with electromechanical constant k = 2.2 NmA-2, and neglecting frictional losses, calculate: (i) (ii) initial armature current and starting armature torque steady state armature current, back emf and speed in r.p.m

Question 2 (i) A 7.5 kW, 250 V shunt motor has an armature circuit resistance of 0.5 and a field circuit resistance of 200 . At no load, rated terminal voltage, and 1200 rev/min, the armature current is 3 A. At full load and rated terminal voltage, the line current is 33.31 A, and the flux is 5% less than its no load value because of armature reaction. Compute the full load speed.
(ii)

A 100 kW, 230 V DC shunt generator has an armature circuit resistance of 0.05 and a field circuit resistance of 57.5 . If the generator operates at the rated terminal voltage and full load, calculate the induced armature emf.
