The Apes Visit the Zoo

By Elton Camp The planet of the apes has a popular zoo So parents with kids have something to do The cages have lions and tigers galore The ape children always clamor for more The parents know just what they should do Farther back lies the zebra, camel and gnu The aviary holds birds of most every feather Where they can fly and even sing together But one cage is the ape child’s special delight At the monkey cage, their eyes will get bright The monkeys chatter and swing all around Scamper to eat peanuts thrown on the ground At their antics, the ape child laughs with glee “Mom, Dad, they look a little bit like me!” On this planet, it’s the apes who hold the upper hand Unless you’ve seen the movies, you won’t understand
