There is a certain aggression that impels me,
into the raging fire,
seeking an end to the desire,
of this possession.

Trapped within the body,
with which I first arrived, and grew,
strengthening as I aged,
pulling back the crackled shell,
shedding the membranic coverings,
peeling back the summertime,
and winter,
discontent and happiness,
all absorbed without retort,
yet now as I’ve begun the slide,
toward a demise of date unknown,
the carapace has rebelled against itself,
ripping apart from deep within,
a story that held uncertain promise,
when pen set first to paper,
and the conjunction of the two,
became the creation of just one,
each day a struggle,
between the voluntary perambulation,
and the quiverous twitching,
that keeps this hiker seated,
all to avoid the embarrassment of public,
rescue on a roadway close to home,
just because the robot legs refuse to move me forward,
anymore.
