Instructor: Jenalyn Wright Office: Lord House (16 Colchester Ave), Room 106 Office Hours: TBD Website: www.uvm.edu/~jwrigh11 Class Schedule: TuWTh 1:00-3:30, TERRIL 308 Text: College Algebra by Beecher, Penna, Bittinger, 4th Edition Course Description: We will be covering chapters R-5. Topics include properties of real and complex numbers, solving equations and inequalities, graphing, and properties of quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Coursework:  Homework: There will be assigned homework to be handed in on Tuesdays. You may collaborate on the homework but do not copy someone else’s work. You may also come to see me during office hours for assistance with the problems. Clearly show all work; write on only one side of the paper. Late homework will be accepted for reduced credit.  Quizzes: There will be a short in-class quiz every Thursday that is not an exam day. There will be no make-up quizzes.  Exams: There will be two exams, scheduled for Thursday on the third and sixth week of classes. Make-up exams will be given in cases of illness, emergency, etc. with prior approval. Attendance: You are expected to come to class and take notes. I will be following the textbook as an outline, but will often explain a section in more depth and give additional examples. If you miss a class, you are expected to obtain the notes from another student.
