Trials started this week in London of DAB radio transmissions enhanced with colour image slideshows. Consumers participating in the two-month experiment have been loaned an iRiver portable radio that incorporates a colour screen which displays station logos, artist photos, CD artwork, information and advertisements broadcast within the signals of 'Capital Radio', 'Heart', 'Magic' and 'Virgin Xtreme'. Andrew Harrison, chief executive of RadioCentre, commented: “As well as enhancing the experience of our listeners with images to support the programmes they already love, Slideshow means new dynamics for advertisers by adding logos and pictures and more detailed information to radio commercials, and that’s a very powerful proposition.”
