Kata Sambutan Atdik dalam Acara Indonesian Cultural Night, Indonesia at a Glance 21 April 2013 di Manchester Academy 1, University

of Manchester Bismilahirrahmanirrahim Ladies and Gentlemen, guests of Indonesian Cultural Night… Our beloved Indonesian students… Assalamualaikum wr wb. Selamat sore… A very good afternoon to all of you I am very delighted to be here among the Indonesian students and all friends of Indonesia in the event, called the “Indonesian Cultural Night”. This is the second ICN that I have visited in Manchester. The previous one was held in the International Society building across the street, a smaller place. But this year we have moved to a bigger place, which means that the organizer has put up even a bigger event for this time. Lets give a big applause to the organizer. Hopefully, next year will be even bigger. The Embassy and I personally welcome and fully support this event, since diplomacy is best done through culture and food. This afternoon, the students will do just that, where we will enjoy the cultural performances while enjoying the traditional foods. The Ambassador has conveyed his regret for not being able to come and be among you all. He extends his best wishes for this event. I understand that the students have been planning, preparing, and rehearshing this event for quite some time. For that I would like to personally commend and thank each and every one of them, the performers and the organizers, and to express my highest appreciation. I should also express my thanks the sponsor from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economics. I know that three representatives from the Ministry who are here among all of us. I would like to welcome you to UK and extend my sincere thanks for your support for the Indonesian Student Society of the Greater Manchester. Please also extend my thanks and appreciations to the Minister in Indonesia. Today coincides with Kartini’s Day. A day to remember Raden Ajeng Kartini, a prominent figure from Indonesia who has fought for the emancipation for women, born on this date in 1879. For that, I would like to wish you all the ladies: ‘Selamat Hari Kartini’. Hopefully you all can appreciate all of her efforts and sacrifices that made what we are now. As we will all be entertained with a number of performances by the students, a glance of Indonesian’s culture, let me just stop here. I hope you all will enjoy the performances which I heard will be very entertaining. Thank you very much. Please enjoy the show. Wassalamualaikum wr wb. T. A. Fauzi Soelaiman London, 21 April 2013
