Washington Ave. Lansing, MI 48906 Email: Jessica@progressmichigan.org RE: Freedom of Information Act Request/Right-to Work Costs Dear Ms. Tramontana: This notice is in follow up our April 11, 2013 response to your April 10, 2013, fax to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requesting copies of existing, nonexempt public records under the state’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), MCL 15.231 et seq., you described as: “…the total cost associated with letters and/or flyers to distribute to businesses and individuals regarding the so-called “Right-to-Work” law.” You were informed that your April 10, 2013 FOIA request was denied because the billing and expenses for LARA’s mail is processed by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB); and that at the time of your April 10, 2013 FOIA request, LARA had not received DTMB’s billing/expense information regarding this matter. Although not yet formally invoiced, on April 29, 2013 LARA received information that a total of 193,739 pieces of material was mailed by DTMB at a cost of $78,745.46, which included sorting and postage; and printing costs were $10,238.76. Total costs to be invoiced LARA is $88,894.22. Sincerely,
