CFD INVESTIGATIONS ON HYDRO-THERMODYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF NANO FLUID FLOWS

This paper reports a computational fluid dynamics work on the heat transfer behavior of fluid flows with the suspension of nano particles of Al2O3 in copper tube, in both laminar and turbulent flow regime. The results showed considerable increase in the convective heat transfer when nano particles are suspended in the base fluid. The enhancement is particularly significant in the laminar flow regime and also at the entrance of the tube, which is due to thermal conduction enhancement . Possible reasons for the heat transfer enhancement are discussed. The addition of nano particles and resulting effects on the hydro -thermodynamic behavior of the fluid flows are also mainly discussed.
