Find Forest Root Domain

Objective: Finding the FRD (Forest root domain ) is always a challenge when the AD has multiple trees. There are multiple ways to identify the Forest root domain , one of the method is to use inbuilt LDP utility

How To: Steps: On the domain controller launch the LDP tool through start LDP

Step2 : click on Connection tab

Step3: leave the Server option as blank and click OK .

Step 4: From the result displayed . search for rootDomainNamingContext which would give you the Forest root domain .

.Note: I have run this exercise on different domain within the same forest.
