December 03, 2011 Hello Gioacchino Here's your first lesson in my self-hypnosis course - and don't worry, because we're going right from the very start, one easy step at a time... Before we go any further, though, if you're using a spam filter, remember to add us to your 'friend' list - some spam filters 'dump' anythiung with a URL included and every email you receive from us from now on will have an 'unsubscribe' URL at the foot. Right, on the training! First, there are so many misbeliefs surrounding hypnosis that I want to dispel any fears or anxieties that you may have, before we go any further. Here is a quote from my self-improvement and personal development book, 'Warriors, Settlers and Nomads' (Crown House, ISBN 189983648-9 available from Amazon): "Hypnosis, viewed askance by many, is not magical or mystical; it does not make anybody superhuman, nor does it imbue an individual with mystical powers beyond the understanding of the normal human mind. Nor does it allow anybody to burn up resources for which there is an eventual price to be paid. It is nothing more than a psychological tool and an amazingly efficient one, too which can help to achieve total excellence for anybody who chooses to use it." And that's the greatest truth ever! Now let's dispel a few old myths: * * * * * * * * * * * * You cannot get stuck in hypnosis this is quite impossible. You do not become in any way unconscious or semi-conscious. You cannot, at any time, be made to do things you do not want to do. You are totally aware of yourself and your surroundings at all times. You do not go to sleep you do not have to have your eyes closed. You are not in anybodys power and nobody can take control of you. You can voluntarily leave the hypnotic state whenever you wish to. You cannot leave your body. You cannot lose your mind. You cannot be possessed in some way. Hypnosis is a truly natural state of mind and body. There is no such thing as a hypnotised feeling.

STAGE AND TV What you see on stage or TV is somewhat artificial in nature, though certainly not fake, as a rule. The common, misunderstanding, though, is that the participants haven't got a clue what they are doing... well, in fact they HAVE and they are usually enjoying every minute of it! This might seem strange but just accept that it is the word of a respected professional in the field of hypnosis. Consider: The volunteers know exactly what is expected of them before they get anywhere near

the stage... if they were not prepared to go along with the act, then they would not be volunteering in the first place. Not only that, it is enormously easy for a professional hypnotist to see at a glance who will go easily and quickly into hypnosis and who will be great material for his/her show. This IS entertainment, after all, and the stage hypnotist has a job to do - if he does not provide entertainment, then he doesn't work! SOME GO DEEPER It is true that some people can be hypnotised more deeply than others and more easily, especially those with the strongest and most creative minds and the greatest ability to use their intelligence and yes, you DID read that correctly! It is also true that a VERY few people are not able to get into the state of hypnosis at all - notice that I am saying that *they cannot get* into hypnosis, not that they cannot be hypnotised. There is a subtle difference, in that *anybody* can resist hypnosis if they want to - it's not difficult. For those that cannot get into hypnosis, there is usually a reason: * * * * * Epilepsy can sometimes create difficulties in focus Alcohol, in excess, can make hypnosis impossible to achieve Below average intelligence or any form of senility Infancy (up to about 6 years old or so) Drug abuse

So, provided you don't fit into any of those groups, you should have no problem at all! A STATE OF FOCUSSED ATTENTION The truth of the matter is that the vast majority of people are hypnotisable whether they recognise it or not; and those who say proudly: Nobody could ever hypnotise me! are, if they did but know it, stating that: I am not able to focus my mind particularly well. Because thats all that hypnosis is a state of focussed concentration. Nothing to be proud of if you cant do it! Now, it is important to remember that this is a course in self-hypnosis, not a course in how to hypnotise others. What you will be learning here is specifically to help you achieve your own goals - helping others achieve theirs is far too complex an issue to be dealt with in a few emails. In your next lesson, you will discover that you have actually already been in hypnosis many times in your life already - in fact it happens many times a day for all of us. You will also get the first exercise that will lead to you being able to hypnotise yourself whenever and wherever you wish even without anybody knowing that you ARE hypnotised! December 05, 2011 Hello Gioacchino, Heres lesson two of the self-hypnosis course and today were going to get into some of the stuff that is really surprising about hypnosis and self-hypnosis. The thing that surprises most about hypnosis is the great truth that there is no specific feeling associated with it. In fact, many people are certain that they didnt go under because nothing much seemed to happen. SENSATIONS Here are some of the sensations that a person in hypnosis might experience, though few notice *all* of these: Extremely relaxed Either heavy or light, maybe floaty Extremely aware, with heightened senses There is sometimes a tingling sensation in the hands/features Totally free from any stress Other physical sensations hands feeling large is very common There is every probability that you will have already experienced all those sensations at different times in your life, often when between sleep and wake, or wake and sleep. At those particular times, we actually pass through a state which is very similar indeed to hypnosis. Later in this lesson, you will learn a simple preparation routine to practice so that when you get to the actual hypnosis part of this course, you will do it more easily and effectively. IMPORTANT INFORMATION First, though, some important information You actually go into hypnosis automatically many times during the day, starting with that period between sleep and wake, those few moments when you are aware that you are awake but just not doing anything about it yet. You may go into hypnosis on the journey to work, suddenly realising that you cant remember passing a particular landmark and this can often happen when youre driving. But dont worry; youre perfectly safe because your subconscious is constantly checking to make sure that everything is safe and that youre ok. As soon as your conscious attention is needed, then you are there instantly. TOTALLY FOCUSSED You might read a magazine and realise that you havent taken in a single word on one particular page; or be watching TV or a film and become aware that you dont actually know whats going on because youve been daydreaming about something else. Or talking to somebody and realise that you havent heard a word theyve said The truth is that you were totally focussed all the time,

just on something other than the main activity of the moment. These are all forms of hypnosis and they happen many times in the course of a day and the last session is between wake and sleep and you again go through a state of mind that is almost identical to hypnosis, with the accompanying relaxation. PREPARATION ROUTINE Now here is the preparation routine I mentioned earlier. Later, when you learn how to hypnotise yourself fully and the first method for that will be in lesson 4 you will find that having practiced this routine a few times first will really pay dividends. Its best to practice it the first few times with your eyes open, so that you can read the sequence. Its easy enough to remember after a couple of times, though: First, make sure you are sitting quite comfortably and that you wont be disturbed for ten minutes, at least. Some people actually find a straight-backed chair to be better than an armchair. Have both your feet flat on the floor and let your hands lie loose in your lap. Close your eyes, and imagine every single muscle in your body to be completely relaxed, or if you have difficulty in relaxing, just imagine just how it would feel if you were relaxed. Now start to steady your breathing, gradually slowing it until you are breathing so slowly and so gently, so steadily and evenly, that you almost would not disturb even a single strand of a feather placed in front of your nostrils. Dont rush you cannot hurry relaxation. After a little while, you will feel yourself becoming stiller and quieter and it may be that your senses seem to become more alert. You could find your mind becoming as calm as your body, or you might feel as if it is more alert than ever before. Either way, yo! u are ready. EXITING THE ROUTINE There are three ways you can finish the routine: Simply open your eyes when you feel ready Set a small timer/alarm for whatever length of time you wish Tell yourself you will open your eyes after whatever length of time you wish Now, some very adept people actually go into hypnosis with that simple routine, observing one or two of those sensations I mentioned earlier and if thats you, then you will achieve great things for yourself with this skill later on! On your next lesson, we are going to have a look at VISUALISATION one of the most important self-development tools you could ever develop! Until then stay cool! December 07, 2011 Hello Gioacchino, Here we are at lesson three of your self hypnosis course and soon you will be able to hypnotise yourself at will! First, though, were going to consider visualisation, which is one of the most important personal development skills you could ever choose to develop. In fact, it is nearly impossible to get into hypnosis without visualisation and even more difficult to do anything worthwhile with the state if you *do* achieve it. It is actually the tool that we use, once in the state of hypnosis, to do the work that will lead to the achievement of our goals and aims. If you have practiced the relaxation routines given in the last lesson, you might already have discovered how vividly and readily images begin to form. PICTURES IN THE MIND Many people feel that they cannot actually visualise anything they cant see pictures in the minds eye like other people can. Most of the time, this is not actually the case but merely a misunderstanding of what those others are actually doing which is not seeing something like a photograph in front of them but merely being aware of a fleeting glimpse of whatever they are seeking to see. No matter. Try this just remember, for a moment, a journey that you made today even if it was only from the bedroom to the kitchen. Imagine how it started and where it finishes in your mind now, whatever you were doing, even it felt like just remembering, thats what visualisation is for you. MORE SENSES Now, it is important to recognise that effective visualisation can and should use more senses than just visual imagery. These other senses are all still part of our instinctive mind and the ability to imagine them at work is resident within everybody. That ability can be easily enhanced with practice. Just imagine the following: SMELLS ---------- SOUNDS ----------- TOUCH SENSATIONS

Coffee ---------- Dog Barking ------ Animal Fur/Hair Garlic ---------- Breaking Glass --- Sandpaper Bad Eggs -------- Car Crash -------- Oil/Grease Roses ----------- Aeroplane -------- Cloth Petrol ---------- Laughter --------- Newspaper NewlyCut Grass -- Pop Music -------- String You may not be able to get all of these, but you should be able to imagine most of them. Once you have learned the knack you will soon be able to imagine any smell you have ever experienced, any sound you have ever heard, any texture you have ever felt. If you have truly neglected your imaginative senses, it may be necessary for you to tune them by physical practice, that is, smell things, feel things and listen to things and think about them. ENHANCING ABILITY Now here is another useful practice routine that will allow you to get the best out of your new skill, which you will discover in the next lesson and it will be a lost easier if you have enhanced your creative imagination To begin the work, find yourself a comfortable place to sit, where you can be undisturbed for the duration. Twenty minutes or so is sufficient for most people, though some like to take longer, especially at the beginning. During this time, lay to one side any non-urgent problems that you know have to be dealt with later in the day. This is easy, if you recognise a few points. 1.The problem is transient, as all problems are. 2.You could not change it any way even if you did keep it in your mind during this short time. 3.You will be able to deal with it more easily and efficiently afterwards as a result of the mental imagery work that you are about to do. Many people find it an easy matter to visualise a box in which they place all their mental and emotional rubbish to keep it safe for a short while so that they can use all their energies in the most efficient manner possible. Now go through the preparation routine given in the last lesson and when you are ready, just allow yourself to recall some ordinary event that has happened during the last day or two. Now do this: Remember Remember Remember Remember how how how how it it it it FELT LOOKED SOUNDED SMELT

When you get it right, you will be aware that the memory becomes more detailed and more vivid in fact we often we refer to a VMI Vivid Mental Image. The VMI, especially when used with hypnosis, provides a vital edge when it comes to creating personal success. There is much more about visualisation, hypnosis and self-hypnosis, as well as about reaching your maximum success potential in my book, Warriors Settlers & Nomads, available from Amazon or from the shopping page of one of my websites: http://www.hypnosense.com/shopping.htm You can also listen to samples of some of the music and hypnosis CDs that I have there they are available for download if you wish. December 09, 2011 Hello Gioacchino, So here we are at the lesson where you learn to actually hypnotise yourself properly! You should by now have had a fair bit of success with the preparation routine and the practice at visualisation; if youve not done very much with them yet, itd be a good idea to delay working with the material in this lesson until youre confident and comfortable with those first two processes. Now, I know this is blatant sales plug but if youre really enjoying this course, be aware that the one of the hypno CDs on my website at http://www.hypnosense.com/music.htm will REALLY get you on your way! We wont interrupt the flow just here, but theres a link at the bottom of this email that will take you straight to the site. THREE ROUTINES

Im going to show you three excellent and simple ways to get into the state of hypnosis although you need to remember two very important things: * It doesnt have any specific feeling associated with it, though you might notice one or two of the signs that I mentioned in a previous email. * If you keep on testing it, it tends to not work! Just trust that you will go as far into hypnosis as you are able to at this time. Begin each method by preparing yourself as you have already learnt. METHOD ONE This is probably the easiest. Just remember a great holiday that you have had at some time in the past or maybe just a day that was special for some reason. Notice exactly how the memory starts; create that Vivid Mental Image (VMI) and store that memory/thought somewhere in your mind we will use it later for the third method the trigger method. Now bring the four senses to bear as you did in the visualisation practice What you can SEE, what you can FEEL, what you can HEAR and what you can SMELL. You can also use TASTE if it is relevant. Make everything vivid in your mind and keep focussed until it is almost as you can actually experience one or more of those four senses this will often be the visual sense and it can seems as if youre looking out through your closed eyelids. Dont worry if you cant get quite that far with it yet; like all skills, it takes practice to get the best out of it and it is important that you *allow* it to happen rather than seek to *make* it happen. METHOD TWO With your eyes closed, imagine, really imagine that you are breathing in through your hands... that your fingers are like hollow tubes and you can actually FEEL the air moving up through your arms and into your shoulders, down through your body and into your legs, and out through your feet. Concentrate for a moment or two on that sensation in the fingers and, if you can, create an image of how they would look if they *were* hollow tubes they can be brass, wood, paper, silver any material that seems to work for you. Youll be using this image later, in the third method. Tell yourself that as the air moves in one single direction through your body, you are breathing calmness in to each and every cell, each and every fibre of your entire being... that with each breath out, you are breathing all traces of tension away from you. Let each muscle go limp. As you breathe out each time, say to yourself slowly: R-e-l-a-a-x n-o-w. Keep each breath long, slow and steady, and after six or so imagine that you can feel yourself floating further and further down into the chair with each breath you breathe, that you are steadily becoming more relaxed than you can ever remember. Concentrate on this breathing pattern, breathing in through your hands and out through your feet, until you can actually FEEL yourself floating downwards (although some people experience an upward floating sensation every bit as good quality of hypnosis); when you experience this, you are in hypnosis, even though the floating sensation can sometimes be almost immediately repl! aced with a feeling of extreme lightness. METHOD THREE Now you can learn about the trigger method of getting into hypnosis, though it really only works after you have achieved some success with either of the two above methods first. The advantage of this method is that it is very quick and allows you more time to some actual work on yourself during the session well cover that on Lesson 5. To use the trigger method is extremely simple; you will already have one or both of the VMI images from the first two methods. Always perform the preparation routine (which gets easier and faster as you practice more and more) then, once youre settled, just bring the VMI into you mind and hold it there as you ALLOW yourself to drift into hypnosis. Some people feel that they drop

into hypnosis. It really is that easy! Finish the session by counting up from 1 - 5 when you are ready to do so, telling yourself that you will be wide awake, alert and feeling GOOD on 5, when you can open your eyes. It works! There are other ways to achieve the state of self hypnosis, of course, including reading a prepared INDUCTION script followed by a DEEPENER script into a tape recorder, and then playing it back to yourself. If you want to try that method, you can get some free scripts here: http://www.hypnosense.com/Scripts.htm IMPORTANT A repeat of something I said on Lesson One: Remember that this is a course in self-hypnosis, not a course in how to hypnotise others. What you are learning here is specifically to help you achieve your own goals - helping others achieve theirs is far too complex an issue to be dealt with in a few emails. The next lesson will show you how to actually USE this state of self hypnosis to achieve your goals and desires Terence Watts http://www.terencewatts.com http://www.hypnosense.com http://www.eich.co.uk The Essex Institute of Clinical Hypnosis - training courses and continual professional development. December 11, 2011 Hello Gioacchino, In this lesson, we are going to have a look at how to actually USE self hypnosis to achieve your aims and desires. By now, you should be getting quite adept at getting into hypnosis; if you are struggling some specifically written background music might help - You can find some on my special offer page for subscribers only at: http://www.hypnosense.com/specials.htm - there's a piece called 'Dreams' available as an instant download. There's more available at http://www.hypnosense.com/music.htm So, setting and getting your goals... It is important that you recognise the four rules that apply to any goal, if you are to have any chance of getting what you want: * * * * The goal must be plausible, possible and realistic It must be suitable for your personality type You must have a clear idea of what you are seeking Positive orientation

PLAUSIBLE AND REALISTIC Anything that *can* be done, *you* can do. Anything that could *never* be done, you will not achieve, either. We are not conducting magic but simply using natural resources to achieve natural goals. If you are 65 years old, for instance, you will not become an Olympic standard athlete. If its not realistic without hypnosis, its not realistic with hypnosis. If you cannot ride a horse, hypnosis wont suddenly create the ability but if you *can* ride, then hypnosis will let you achieve the highest standard possible *for you* - which will probably be higher than you would otherwise have achieved. SUITABLE FOR PERSONALITY For a goal to have a chance of success it should reflect your natural personality; while hypnosis can and does allow people to behave in a way that is different from their norm, the effect is temporary and not good for achieving long-term goals. Always select a goal that you feel would not surprise other that you were doing it, and then use hypnosis to speed up the process of achievement and to find true excellence! A CLEAR IDEA You have to know EXACTLY what it is that you want. It sounds obvious but an awful lot of people simply have never worked it out! Somebody might say: I want to make something of myself. Well, good but make *what* exactly? The subconscious only works with uncomplicated and positive statements with no ambiguity or implication. After all, if you made a failure of yourself, that would comply with the above goal, wouldnt it? Make a success is not much better, either. One persons success simply doesnt work for another. I want to have my own business selling trading materials on the internet, is a clear goal. So is: I want to make xxxxxxxx money a year from trading, as long as you state a figure that you know *can* be achieved. Make your goal specific! POSITIVE ORIENTATION This just means that you should think of what you do want, not what you do not want; what you can do, not what you cannot; what you like, not what you hate; how you actually want to be, what you actually want to happen... etc. For example: I dont want to look stupid, is a negative statement, whereas: I want to look as if I know what Im talking about, is positive. By implication, they mean the same thing to the conscious mind but the subconscious mind does not understand

10

implications. All of this might sound very obvious, but there are many people who confuse POSITIVE with EMPHATIC I am *determined* not to fail! is actually a negative statement, even though it is emphatic, whereas: I am determined to succeed! is totally positive and carries an entirely different message to your subconscious mind, which is entirely objective and can only work on what actually IS, and has no understanding of what is NOT. So be sure that your goals state exactly what you want. I want to earn xxxxxxxx a year as a salesman is a positive statement. I will NOT be frightened of a depressed market, is not. I will maintain confidence in my judgements of the trade is excellent. Obviously, in a commercially produced programme, all this work is done for you and the suggestion part of the programme will be crafted towards a specific end quitting smoking, for example, or passing a driving test. THE FOUR-SENSE TEST A good goal will always pass this test; you should be able to apply at least four of your five senses to it. You should be able to SEE something associated with it; HEAR something associated with it; FEEL something associated with it; and maybe SMELL or TASTE something associated with it. Heres an example, which doesnt need a great deal of explanation: a sudden and unexpected success of a plan; a whoop of joy; excitement and punching the air; the smell/taste of celebratory champagne (as long as you like champagne, of course!). Now turn that goal into a VMI - make it like a little piece of video film and you have a far higher chance of achieving it than otherwise. DOING IT So, you now have all the skills you need to start working at improving your life. Its a good idea to work on only one goal at a time; each goal can run into the next, so that you might have a goal of what you will actually DO with the xxxxxxxx you are going to earn as a trader. Working on one goal at a time is not only more likely to find success its a damn sight easier than seeking to create and remember multiple scenarios. By the way, dont bother with the idea of repeating affirmations to yourself unless you really feel compelled to do so (there are some available free on my hypnosense site); it is now widely accepted that visualisation of the sort you have learnt here is much more effective. Now get yourself into hypnosis whichever way you like best and be patient enough to take the time to do it, because you simply cant hurry this work. Once there, simply play your VMI video film in your mind 3-5 times and allow yourself to FEEL the excitement of the achievement. This is the emotional reward and it is a vital part of any success plan. Once you have completed that task, just count yourself out from hypnosis and DONT TRY TO MAKE THE IDEA WORK! Your subconscious will lead you to the right place, the right time, if you ALLOW it to. A psychotherapist called Emile Coue, in 1913, said: The harder you try, the less likely you are to succeed He was right! In your next lesson, you will learn how personality affects hypnosis and goal achievement, and there is a personality test included which you can use to test yourself and your friends even without them knowing theyve been tested, if you wish! December 13, 2011 Hello again Gioacchino, Heres the last-but-one lesson on the self-hypnosis course. I do hope that you have enjoyed what you have discovered so far. If so, then I also hope that youve already signed up for one of our courses at the Essex Institute you will discover a whole lot more AND make some new friends too! Places are limited, so dont delay! Call 01702 434431 to book or go to http://www.eich.co.uk and download an application form. Alternatively, email the office: eich@eich.co.uk Personality tests have been around for a long time; many of them ask a whole lot of questions and are somewhat vague with the answers. Well, this one is different! It has only 3 questions which can be disguised into a normal conversation, and the answers will tell you which of three personality types is most active in the mind of the individual answering the questions. Here are the questions its a good idea to answer them before you read what they mean! 1.If you had to choose between being rich or popular, which would you choose? You cannot choose RICH because you believe that would make you popular it has to be one or the other.

12

2.If you were going to be rich anyway, would you rather be quietly so, so that nobody knew, or evidently so, with all the trappings of wealth on display? 3.Where do *you* live in your body? The personality typing that we use is the result of my own research that I started in 1995 the Warriors Settlers & Nomads book was published in 2000 and the title tells you the names of the types. They are based on evolutionary psychology, but there isnt room to discuss the subject here, nor to give you more than the merest outline of each type Do bear in mind that we have ALL inherited something of each its the balance that makes us the way we are. WARRIOR As the name suggests, based on the ancient Warriors; the modern Warrior is control-orientated, straight-faced, a plain (though often smart) dresser, often favouring dark greens, blues, browns, olive colours. S/he often has little body language and few words. This is not an excitable person. In positive format, s/he might be a surgeon, a company director or in some other position of control. In negative format, s/he might be an inspector or warden of sorts, somebody whose job is to see that others are obeying rules. SETTLER The nice people of the world, descended from the first farmers and founders of the Settlements that became Civilisation. These people are community-minded and tend towards support roles in whatever they do. The dress in pastel/mid-tone colours, are polite and friendly and usually ready to help others. In positive format they are cheerful, tolerant and quite easy-going; in negative format, they can be defeatist, miserable, moody and will cut off their nose to spite their face. They usually do unremarkable jobs. NOMAD This type has a strong urge for constant change; our most ancient ancestors lived off the land and cared little for security, keeping on the move the whole time. The modern Nomad may well NOT wander physically but will need there to be change and excitement in his/her life. There must always be something going on, whether its good or bad. S/he is lively, animated, enthusiastic, can be noisy and is either a sharp or determinedly sloppy dresser. They like to be different from the crowd and will usually deny that a personality test is accurate! In positive format they are inspirational and enthusiastic; in negative mode they can be shallow and somewhat childish and/or petulant. They are often a natural show-off. There is far more about these personality types, and a longer and rather more accurate test, on my site at http://www.hypnosense.com - youll find the link underneath the resources for hypnotherapists heading. INTERPRETING THE TEST Those with a predominance of WARRIOR personality will usually have at least two of: Rich, Quietly, In my head in their answers. The Predominantly SETTLER types will have at least two of: Popular, Quietly, In my [heart/stomach/middle/torso] The mainly Nomad type will show at least two of: Rich, Evidently and any answer other than the two already shown above in third place. Sometimes, the Nomad doesnt even understand the question, though the other two groups do. This is a throwback, perhaps, to their ancient ancestors who didnt live anywhere at all. At times, youll get a facetious reply here from the Nomad. WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN? So, how does your personality affect the way you use hypnosis? The WARRIOR will tend to keep testing it and may achieve a lesser result than s/he might

otherwise. If this is you, try to let go a little to get the best results no harm can befall you, I promise! As far as your suggestions are concerned, you need to work at GAINING CONTROL I the area you are looking for success. The SETTLER will get into hypnosis quite easily but may have trouble in defining goals. I want often does not sit well with the Settler type of individual and this is a serious limitation. If this is you, just imagine how you might be able to do some really good work for others with what you are seeking to achieve. The NOMAD will get into hypnosis almost instantly! If this is you, you have probably been enjoying the sensation since the very first lesson of this series! TO get the best out of it, you should make your goals a little outrageous and give a totally free rein to your creative imagination. The VMI is a *gift* for you and will help you to get to wherever you want to go! Theres just one more lesson to go on this course and youll get that in a couple of days. Conversazione: Self hypnosis course, lesson 7

December 15, 2011 Hello once more Gioacchino, Well, here we are at the last lesson I hope youve enjoyed the course. By now you are probably quite proficient at getting into hypnosis and are on your way to the sort of life that you REALLY want! On this lesson, I am going to give you another way of working that can produce truly spectacular results with rapid change; it is not something that will create a permanent change in your way of being perhaps, but it is something you can repeat on a daily basis if you need to. First, though, allow me a little publicity, which I have sought to keep out of your lessons as far as possible until now and of course, you can simply skip this section if you wish! http://www.eccellenti.com of course, the site where you can buy self help ebooks and software, and find free self-help information. http://www.hypnosense.com will take you to my main site, which is one of the biggest hypnotherapy resource sites in existence. Loads of free stuff and some other stuff you might be interested in on the shopping page, which is linked from the home page. Also, look at: http://www.hypnosense.com/general.htm for some great books on self-hypnosis. http://www.eich.co.uk The website of my school, the Essex Institute of Clinical Hypnosis. This will only interest you if you want to train as a hypnotherapist. http://www.aphp.net This one will only interest you if you want to find somebody to help motivate you we have members world-wide http://www.terencewatts.com This is only of interest if you want to find out more about me OK, plugs over, now down to the last bit of tuition! THE CONTROL ROOM This is a version of something that I teach on my classes, though less involved, since it is designed only for work with your own mind and not for you to apply to anybody else. This is actually quite important, because I have not sought to teach you how to safely hypnotise and unhypnotise other people. If you want to work with others, then you really need to complete a professional training course. This routine is ideal for raising confidence or lowering stress; it is a good idea to use it for only ONE of those two concepts rather than seeking to do both at the same time. The subconscious works better if you give it simple instructions in fact, you could liken the subconscious to a 6 year-old child; anything that a 6 year-old could understand can definitely be taken on board by the subconscious in the way that you mean it. Anything more complicated than that *might* be accepted, but might not be. Complex issues are not a good way to work the acronym KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) really does apply here. OK. Decide what youre going to work on confidence or stress/anxiety and grade it on a scale of 1 10, where 1 is least and 10 is highest. Now imagine a control gauge it might look like a speedometer, the dial on bathroom scales, or a digital read out. It doesnt matter as long as you can see it in you minds eye. The gauge shows

the number you have graded. See it in your mind. Now imagine a control - which can be a lever, a knob, a wheel or whatever else you choose - somewhere beneath or around the gauge, that will raise/lower the number as necessary or relevant. It is important that there is some form of catch, button, or something else that will lock the control into place. Remember what the controls and the gauge looks like and create a VMI. MAKING IT WORK Get into hypnosis, then access the VMI that you have created. Now adjust the control as necessary. You might find that its a bit difficult to move at first this is not at all unusual. Move it as far as you can and increase/decrease the number on the gauge to a level where you feel at ease. Its interesting that very few people want to create a 0 for stress or a 10 for confidence. In general, it is a good idea to change it be only a couple of points or so you can always come back the next day! The same applies if you find you cant move it at all just leave it and try another time. Lastly, lock the control into place, then exit hypnosis and once again DO NOT TRY TO MAKE ANYTHING WORK! To do so would be testing it and testing is the best way to wreck this sort of development process; there is a need to simply trust that it will work it is, after all, a totally natural process. And thats about it for this introductory course. Obviously, there is much more to the art and skills of hypnosis than has been covered here and there are many books and courses on the subject. A search for free self hypnosis courses on Google will almost certainly turn something up and it is always a good idea to read more than one persons take on the subject. Please do feel free to email me with any questions you have Ill try to answer them as soon as possible, though my workload with teaching, research, writing, therapy and so on is such that it is sometimes a day or two before I can get to them. But I always reply! My email address is tw@terencewatts.com Once again, I hope youve enjoyed the course - may you find all that you seek!
