Creative Writing Personal Time Capsule 2012 A Collection of Work That Reflects You at this Point in Time 60 points

possible
This work is a collection of pieces that --You have already worked on in class (journal entries, reactions, assignments) --Reflect your thoughts about this past school year --Show what has been important to you over this past year in school (friends, music, events, etc.) --Share your vision of the future Here’s what must be included in this time capsule: --2 favorite pieces of prose that you have written this year. (These can be anything from a final piece you turned in for a grade to a journal entry from your writer’s notebook. Just make sure it is finished, revised, and edited) --2 favorite pieces of poetry you have written --1 excerpt and reaction from a favorite novel you have read this year --1 favorite piece of music from this year. (Lyrics, artist, album if applicable) --Your choice of three reflections: a. On friends b. On classes c. On extra curriculars d. On teacher(s) --Reflection on a moment in time/snapshot/photo --Your vision of the future: for you, for your friends/family, for the world Specific instructions for each piece: --2 favorite pieces (sections) of prose that you have written this year. (5 pts. each) These can be anything from a final piece you turned in for a grade to a journal entry from your writer’s notebook. These pieces must be finished, revised, and edited. --2 favorite pieces of poetry you have written (5 pts. Each) These can be from your poetry project but do not need to be. They must be finished, revised, and edited. --1 excerpt from a favorite novel you have read this year (5 pts.) This should include a clip of the cover, the title, author, and short summary. After all of that find a short (not more than ¾ page) excerpt from the novel that you want to include. --1 favorite piece of music from this year. (5 pts.) You should type out the lyrics of the song (please make sure they are appropriate). The artist who performed it, the songwriter (this may be different than the artist), and name of the album it was released on (a clipart picture of the album or artist would be a nice touch here).

Your choice of two reflections: (10 pts. Each) a. On friends b. On classes c. On extra curriculars d. On teacher(s) Reflections are reactions, thoughts, and feelings to these particular things written in poetry, essay, or personal narrative form. The length will vary depending on your particular connection to the topic therefore, I can’t tell you an exact length. What I can tell you is that I’m looking for thoughtful, complete, well written ideas. --Reflection on a moment in time/snapshot/photo (5 pts.) This section is a reaction to a photo or a moment in time when something particularly impactful, important, dramatic, even funny occurred. If you have a photo from that time (for instance a team photo from a sporting event) you should include that. The reflection falls along the same lines as the description above. --Please do not paste the original photo on your project, make a copy and attach that— --Your vision of the future: for you, for your friends/family, for the world (5 pts.) Ok, after all this looking back at this past year, it’s time to look forward. Write a piece about your vision for the future. This one has a specific format that must be followed. It should be written as a creative essay. Please try to touch on the vision of your future for sure, but wrapped in that you could include pieces about your family, friends, the world, etc. The length on this piece should be a minimum of ¾ page long. Format of project: Please don’t feel like each piece needs to be on a separate page, save a tree. But, it needs to be neat, typed, spell checked, include pictures where necessary, and title each separate piece. A cover page is required with your name and a picture.
