“Building spiritual movements everywhere through the platform of sport so that everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus ”

Dear friends and family, I’m excited to tell you that I have recently been accepted to pursue my calling to be on staff with Athletes in Action! During the 2011-2012 school year I was an intern with Athletes in Action (a ministry of Cru, formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ) at Colorado State University. My internship was completed in the summer of 2012, and I have been enjoying the job of being a nanny for 4 girls (7, 6, 2 &2) since September. WOW, this has certainly been a wonderful experience; however, over the first few months of my new job it was increasingly clear that God was confirming a call into full-time ministry work. I cannot think of a better avenue to follow this call than the ministry of Cru and specifically Athletes in Action. The Lord has richly blessed me with so many experiences as a student and intern with this organization. I think of the way God has softened my heart and proven His faithfulness time and time again, especially through an AIA track and field trip to Zimbabwe last summer. I had the chance to learn from the local Cru staff in Zimbabwe how to use sports to minister in a powerful way. Unlike anything I had previously witnessed, the Gospel was received with a hunger and thirst that only Jesus, the bread of life and living water, can satisfy. I anticipate many more of these experiences as I look ahead to my 2-year training assignment at the AIA world headquarters in Xenia, Ohio, and to wherever the Lord might have me go after that! As a first step in this process I will attend New Staff Training from June 9th-July 21st in Fort Collins. This training will be instrumental in preparing me for the ministry to which the Lord has called me. Like many other missionary organizations, Cru staff members have the responsibility to develop a team of financial partners who provide the necessary finances for their outreach, including their salary and ministry related expenses. Would you be in a position to help me attend this training by giving a special gift of $100, $300 or $500 or some other amount? To give, simply make your check payable to “Cru” and mail it to me, along with the response card, in the enclosed envelope. If you prefer, you may give a gift online at give.cru.org/give/0640250.

Thank you for considering this request. Please know that your prayers for me during this process, as God works out the details, are incredibly powerful and important as well! I am grateful for whatever you decide to do! Following the training I look forward to sharing more with you about my ministry! I would love to meet with you or arrange a time to talk on the phone and share all the Lord has done over the past year and all that I am trusting Him to do in the future.

Sincerely, Kate
