Michael Morpurgo

My author Is Michael Morpurgo. I read three of his books. Something that is very interesting about him is that he is British. He was born in 1943 in London. His favorite lesson in school was French. He began as a primary teacher and that made him write stories. He started a foundation to allow city children to work on a farm. He owns three farms. I chose this author because he is a very detailed writer and I have to say I learned at least 15 new words. He is the best author ever. One of the books I read is Kensukes Kingdom, a story about a boy who gets washed up on an island and found a friend. The second one is Warhorse, about a boy and his horse and his horse goes to war. Michael morpurgo released the movie War Horse in 2012. The last one is An Elephant in the Garden, a book about an elephant who is very brave. Michael was a teacher. When he was , his classmates inspired him to think about writing a book. In an interview for HarperCollins Children's Books to announce their upcoming biography of Michael Morpurgo, he said that when he was a teacher, he found that he could maintain the attention of his students late in the day by reading stories to them. That habit became telling them stories without a book, which led him to his writing career. In the three books that I read they all are about war and they always ended up at the end good. In Kensukes Kingdom a japanese soldier who does not want to return home does go home and so does the main character Michael. In War Horse the horse does return home. In the last book the elephant returns home. All of the books had the main characters trying to protect and save some animal. The characters are very interesting. They make the whole book come alive. I think that he plots his books to be based on a war and talks about war and and how the war affects his characters. Michael is a very good writer and he is my idol in writing books. One of the things in Michael Morpurgos writing that I liked is that they all had a common theme that is war. In all the books it shows what the characters had to do to survive wars even though all the wars were different. All the books were exciting because Michael never left you hanging in the books that he wrote. It was a fast read. In my opinion the best of the three books was War Horse. It was sad but the story and the horse never gave up. My second favorite books is Kensukes Kingdom. I liked it because Kensuke stayed at that island for 20 years and was a japanese soldier. But even An Elephant in the Garden was a very good book. I totally recommend these they are a great read.
