We had the pleasure of having LULAC Past President Hector Flores during our State Convention in Salt Lake City. 2012 and 2013 have been years of tremendous progress for LULAC in Utah. Our organization has grown its membership in the state in more than 300%. We also secured Salt Lake City as the site for the 2015 LULAC National Convention. A LULAC Member, State Senator Luz Robles, was awarded Legislator of the Year during the 2013 LULAC Congressional Gala in Washington DC. Finally, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman will be the keynote speaker at the 2013 LULAC National Convention in Las Vegas. We had successful voter registration drives, DACA workshops, in addition to immigration reform workshops. It has been a very busy time for Utah LULAC Councils. During our State Convention, Sen. Luz Robles brought a motion to the floor to unanimously endorse Domingo Garcia for LULAC National President. After a healthy discussion and debate, we are pleased to announce that support for this resolution was unanimous.
Domingo Garcia has shown a true commitment to LULAC and its ideals. He has proven credentials and leadership to understand issues in the Hispanic community. We feel his heart and actions are at the right place in regards to LULAC values and the direction our organization needs for the future. For LULAC Utah, Domingo Garcia is the best alternative. Sincerely, Antonella Packard, State LULAC The Utah Councils of LULAC
