Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie to Stop Surplus of McMillan

(Communicate this by telephone, email, fax, twitter, U.S. Mail)

Mayor Vincent C. Grays Administration has scheduled a community meeting on Thursday, June 6, 2013 to declare the McMillan Sand Filtration Site as surplus public property before turning over this 25-acre national historic landmark to private developers. We have written to Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie and are meeting with him on Monday, June 3 to urge him to ask Mayor Gray to cancel the June 6 meeting.
The surplus meeting should be canceled because the public record does nt have: 1) the legally required analysis of whether to keep or sell the land; 2) the Exclusive Rights Agreement, despite several Freedom of Information Act requests, and 3) an up-to-date fiscal and economic analysis. Also, the Administration apparently wants to limit participation with electronic-only notice, a barrier for many older, long-term neighbors, and by saying its about 2501 First Street, NW, not "McMillan.

Please contact Councilmember McDuffie, by phone, email, fax, twitter, and in person and ask him to urge Mayor Gray to cancel the June 6 McMillan surplus meeting. Call McDuffies office at (202)724-8028, fax him at (202) 724-8076, Tweet him at @CM_McDuffie, or email him at,
