Resurrection Blindness (Luke 24:13-32)

Why they did not see the resurrected Jesus

Blindness is a terrible condition, but what’s worse is to have healthy eyes, yet not being able to see.
The Resurrection of Christ is a very significant event in Christianity, yet, many people during His time
had difficulty seeing the resurrected Christ like the 2 followers on the road to Emmaus. What distracted
them from seeing Jesus?
Blurry Vision (13-18)
They did not recognize Jesus because of discouragement. They were focusing too much on the
problem. Hopelessness prevails in the 21 century, but let us never forget that this is not the end of the
st

story. Jesus rose from the dead and that’s the most hopeful thing that ever happened in this world.

Nearsightedness (19-21)
They have a limited view of Christ, of what He did on the cross, and they were looking only at the
present context. Many people get so wrapped up with the world and the present concerns of the times.
Sometimes we surrender to the pressures in this world, but Christians have a glorious future ahead.
Lazy Eyes (22-24)
When Jesus rose from the dead everyone could not believe because they never really believed what
they heard Jesus said. Perhaps many people today suffer from lazy eyes. They only see, hear and
believe what they want to. How do we deal with it? Train your eyes on God’s words, understand it, and
make it a part of your lives. Jesus is alive - Hear Him speak to you!

The resurrection of Christ is the foundation of the Christian hope. It is supposed to bring the deepest
smiles, the most joyful countenance and the most enthusiastic life we can ever experience in this
world. I pray that we’ll be able to see it and live it that way.
