FRETBOARD MAP

THEORY LESSON

This map will allow you to spot each note on the guitar fingerboard more easily. Just find the desired note on the table (map) and read the information related to the fret and string to locate the note on the guitar.

Note: Remember that some notes are enharmonic, which means that they can have two possible names, e.g. D and E are the same note!

Example: If we want to know which frets on the 6th string the C note is located, we must search for the note on the map and to determine that it is on the frets 8 and 20 (highlighted with a red circle on the map.)

You can also find this note on the frets 3 and 15 of the fifth string.

Thus, just by following this simple procedure, we can quickly locate any note on the fingerboard, which will help us to build and play chords and scales in different keys. Do not forget that this map is for guidance only and you must memorize the position of all the notes to become a good guitarist.
