Arab  Media  Use  Survey         Survey  Methodology       The  Arab  Media  Use  survey  was  created  and  commissioned

 by  Northwestern  University  in  Qatar,  and   conducted  by  Harris  Interactive,  Inc.    The  survey  was  conducted  among  the  general  population  18  years  and   older  in  eight  countries  in  the  Middle  East.    Across  the  eight  countries,  a  total  of  9,693  respondents   completed  the  survey1.    Fieldwork  was  conducted  between  26  December,  2012  and  5  February  2013  in   seven  of  the  eight  participating  countries  and  between  March  26  2013  and  18  April  2013  in  Qatar.         The  survey  was  conducted  face-­‐to-­‐face  in  seven  of  the  eight  participating  countries  and  via  telephone  in   Qatar.    The  survey  was  offered  in  Arabic,  English  and/or  French,  depending  on  the  country.     The  survey  took  an  average  of  25  -­‐  30  minutes  to  complete,  depending  on  language  and  mode.    The   questionnaire  consisted  of  approximately  140  questions  or  response  items.       In  Bahrain,  Egypt,  Jordan,  KSA,  Lebanon,  UAE  and  Tunisia  a  multi-­‐stage  random  probability  face-­‐to-­‐face   sample  was  implemented.    In  Qatar,  a  random  telephone  sample  was  implemented.      Sampling  plans   were  developed  based  on  age,  gender  and  region.    In  Egypt,  Qatar,  KSA,  UAE,  the  sampling  plan  was  also   took  into  account  ethnicity  –  National,  Arab  Expatriate,  Asian  Expatriate  and  Other  (including  Westerner   expatriates).    In  Qatar,  quotas  were  also  set  for  landline  (746)  versus  mobile  only  (173)  respondents.       Weighting  was  applied  in  Egypt,  Qatar,  KSA,  and  UAE  to  be  representative  by  ethnic  group,  region,  age   and  gender.   Sample  Summary   Ethnicity   Number  of   Other   Response   Language  of   Country   Completes   (including   Rate   interview   Arab   Asian   Western   Interviews
