Linking hope.
Treatment, Healing, and Education (THE) Center for Disordered Eating is a tremendous resource and asset in supporting my patients along their journey to recovery. Eating disorders often leave patients feeling very isolated and vulnerable. It is difficult to take the necessary steps toward recovery. THE Center for Disordered Eating is a unique local resource that makes those steps less isolating and scary. My patients have found comfort and strength in the weekly support groups led by local professionals with expertise in eating disorders. THE Center also provides resources and information for my patients to help them find the help that they need to battle their eating disorders. I am also impressed with the work THE Center does in community education and outreach which is so vital in prevention of eating disorders. We are lucky to have such an organization in this community. -Dr. Emily Diznoff, Asheville Family Medicine

Dear Future Sponsor, We are excited to present to you the Treatment, Healing, and Education (THE) Center for Disordered Eating 2014 Annual Campaign! Your company is invited to participate in a wonderful marketing and philanthropic opportunity – to sponsor a year of support groups, events, library, and community education and outreach for THE Center for Disordered Eating of Western North Carolina (WNC). THE Center for Disordered Eating is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of disordered eating through education, support, prevention, and advocacy in WNC. We aim to be the knowledge hub on eating disorders and a proactive agent of change to ensure that all those at risk or affected by eating disorders receive the treatment and support they need. “Week in and week out, THE Center for Disordered Eating’s support group has been the one constant in my recovery. It has provided encouragement, support and friendship. Without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today.” -JL

As the THE Center for Disordered Eating continues to grow,

By sponsoring THE Center for Disordered Eating you will be supporting the only 501(c)(3) in the state of North Carolina that serves people and families affected by disordered eating. Since our mission is unique in the state, our programs are vital to the people we serve. Your involvement provides lifesaving services that foster community around a potentially lifethreatening illness seldom talked about or understood affecting more than 30 million Americans. THE Center’s Helpline connects people to help and treatment in WNC. The annual Healthy Eating and Living (HEAL) Conference and Voices of Hope event brings together the public and experts in the field to provide a consortium for learning and application in schools, medical and behavioral healthcare communities, and the general public. The school prevention program, Healthy Bodies, offers school and health educators a comprehensive curriculum addressing body image, eating, fitness, and weight concerns in today's challenging environment for boys and girls. This curriculum is culturally relevant, gender-neutral, involves family participation, and meets the diversified needs of our community. Our lending library and support groups serve to connect, inform, and support individuals and families who are affected by disordered eating. And National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDAW) educates our region on signs and symptoms for early detection and intervention.

“Among the many valuable programs offered by THE Center for Disordered Eating, one particularly memorable collaboration with UNC Asheville drew students, educators, and community members to our campus to learn more about this critically important topic. It was my honor to host this vital discussion for our community.” - Anne Ponder, Chancellor, University of North Carolina at Asheville

“As a spouse of someone struggling with an eating disorder,

it is hard to find another spouse or parent that can relate to my experiences. T.H.E. Center for Disordered Eating provides an opportunity each month for me to connect with others who are "walking in my shoes", which is a great help for family members dealing with the stresses an eating disorder brings.
