This was a generation of savers, frugality that Baby Boomers never understood, and never will, and carriers of little to no debt. There is every reason to believe that the millennium generation is mirroring the predecessors as a result of living through the Great Recession. They strongly identify with owning a home, and believe renting a home is a "waste of money." They will strive to build equity and pay off the home, and according to a recent Gallup poll that this column touched on last month, they will be savers and live debt free. This bodes well for housing for the next 10 years, which is the typical up cycle anyway, give or take a year.
