Brief Description: A thorny tree reaching from 5 to 20 meters tall, this species of Acacia is generally found in the Sahel. It has similar qualities of forage, carpentry, firewood, medicinal uses, and shade that other Acacias have. It also produces an arabic gum called ‘elk’ [ ‫ ]العلك‬in Hassaniyya, although it is inferior compared to the elk that comes from Acacia senegal [‘Aourour,’ ‫ آورور‬, in Hassaniyya].
