July 26, 2012 Dear Antoinett Muhammad, I would like to congratulate you on beginning the Student Teaching phase of the Department of Urban Education teacher preparation program this fall. This semester will validate all of your knowledge and preparation, and will demonstrate the classroom skills you have mastered. Our department is confident that you are well prepared to assume this responsibility, as well as to represent our university in a positive and professional manner. Your Principal and Cooperating Teacher are looking forward to welcoming you. A calendar with the date you are to report to your school will be provided to you when dates are confirmed by our school districts. Student Teacher Orientation is mandatory, and the schedule is included with this letter. Plan to attend the Orientation for the school district where you are placed. A general session will be held explaining many important facts you will need to know prior to beginning the semester. You will also meet with your student teaching Supervisor and faculty at this time. School district personnel are also invited to attend. Remember to dress professionally and represent yourself and UH-D well! You will also need to print a copy of the Student Teacher Handbook and bring it to Orientation.
