Matt 28:19-20: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the

Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you - Jesus

Ruth Abner is a new member of the evangelism team at Victory Outreach West London. She sees the team as fulfilling the Great Commission! Every Wednesday the team goes out to the streets of West London. In the last few months we have been at Shepherds Bush and Harlesden. The following is a snapshot of Ruths experience so far Connecting: the team has made connections with local people, shops, hostels and other organisations. The style of ministry is different from what I was used to i.e. just telling people Jesus loves you. VOWL Evangelism connects by introducing yourself first and asking the person if they attend any church. Dependant on the answer we converse about Gods love and the work of VOWL with those who are dependant on substances and then we ask if they would like us to pray for them. This way we connect with people of all faiths. Hurting people: We have seen a lot of people with burdens being ministered to. People who have been hurt by the church in this country previously; people suffering from communication breakdown in the family; those facing homelessness, substance dependency, and sickness have all welcomed prayer from the team. At times we have seen the Holy Spirit change their countenance as we prayed and joy overcoming their feelings of heaviness, praise the Lord! Word of Knowledge: there was an elderly man who said he believed in God but does not go to church; David spoke a word of knowledge that he apologises for the hurt the church had caused him- the elderly man was comforted by the revelation.

Discussion: I recall a man stood there arguing with himself because we just listened, he asked why did Jesus have to die so sins be forgiven? then he proceeded to answer himself that Jesus had to die because that was the way sins had to be forgiven! Praise God! It is a wonderful experience being on the outreach team! By Ruth Abner.

The rallies have grown from strength to strength seeing a great turn out of VOWL members keen to witness on the streets of Harlesden. Even the children joined in and weve also had support from friends of the ministry. The response of the local people was encouraging as they stopped to listen to testimonies, the gospel message and receive prayer. One of the residents got healed of chronic back pain right there and then on the streets! God is giving the church a burden for these souls. God opened the door for Pastor David Elwin to be part of the Chaplaincy team at Wormwood Scrubs Mens prison, ministering on the addiction wing. Since he became part of the team in Oct 2012 over 200 men have given their lives to God! The midweek Bible study group has grown from 4 to about 12 men who are hungry for God. He reports it has also been very exciting to see the men in worship and communion services really connecting with God. There are already men waiting to go into the Mens Recovery Home once released from Prison. Others are also planning to join our local church (VOWL) on their release. God has even started to bring prisoners families to the church! Thank God for all that He has done so far! We cant wait to see what He does next!

Prayer Outreach Warriors (P.O.W!) was established earlier this year for members of the church who are not able to come out evangelizing. The P.O.W. team is a very important part of what we do as a church. The team intercedes specifically for the evangelism and prison ministries. Every Wednesday a prayer chain operates via phone call, text or Skype. P. O. W. also had its first prayer breakfast at the end of April, with more on the way! Angelique, Chloe, Ruth, Jacqui, Phyllisha, Michella, Sharon and Katie are all part of P.O.W.

Praise God for what He has done so far through V. O.W.L. Outreach! From Acts 4 vs. 29-31, pray that the Lord would enable the Outreach teams to speak with boldness; that the Lord will stretch out His hand over West London to heal, and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of Jesus. Homelessness and poverty are huge issues in Harlesden; ask that God will strengthen local ministries as they work to eradicate these issues. Pray that when men are released from the prisons that they would have a heart to serve God. Ask for the mens and womens recovery homes will be established in West London soon.
