Tell the Erie County Legislature: BAN FRACKING NOW Monday, July 22nd - Friday, July 26th 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Join people across Erie County in calling our legislators during this call week and make your voice heard! There are alternatives to gas, but there are no alternatives to water! Hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” is a highly dangerous method of drilling for natural gas that threatens our drinking water, health, communities, and environment. Fracking involves the injection of water, chemicals, and sand underground to crack open rock formations that contain gas. Documented risks include contaminated groundwater, wastewater that contains radioactive elements, and air pollution. Erie County is considering a ban on fracking on County land and banning the dangerous, radioactive waste it creates. Fortunately, we have a window of opportunity to encourage the Erie County Legislature to make the right choice. MAKE THE CALL TODAY! Sample script: “Hello my name is (full name) and I am calling to urge Legislator (last name) to support a bill that would ban dangerous fracking and the toxic waste it creates from entering Erie County.” Central Buffalo - Legislator Timothy Hogues, 716-842-0490 North Buffalo - Legislator Lynn Marinelli, 716-832-0493 Tonawanda/Grand Island - Legislator Kevin Hardwick, 716-858-8672 Amherst - Legislator Thomas Loughran, 716-836-0198 Clarence, Newstead - Legislator Edward Rath, 716-858-8676 Cheektowaga - Legislator Thomas Mazur, 716-893-4385 Lancaster/Alden - Legislator Terrence McCracken, 716-681-3459 South Buffalo/Lackawanna/Hamburg - Legislator Lynne Dixon, 716-858-8671 West Seneca/Elma/Marilla/Aurora/Wales/Colden/Holland - Legislator Joseph Lorigo, 716-858-8922 Orchard Park/Evans/Eden/Boston/Brant/North Collins/Collins/Concord/Sardinia Legislator John Mills, 716-858-8850 Put the safety of our water, land, and air before the profits of the oil & gas industry!
