36 Crescent Road Multi-Use Path
Improvements for Bridge carrying Crescent-Vischer Ferry Road over I-87 Initially, during project design meetings, NYSDOT recommended a shared used path across the structure on the existing bridge deck and approach shoulders, with minor modifications. This was accomplished by reducing the lane widths, through restriping the lanes on the bridge, to allow for the proposed path width across the existing bridge deck. Later evaluation by NYSDOT required a raised path over the structure. In order to incorporate the raised path into the design, many significant changes were necessary as a result of coordination with NYSDOT Region 1 structural engineers. Additional Work Summary: The work involved in adding a raised path on the bridge over I-87 included the following:  Installation of temporary concrete barrier, signal modification, removal of existing pavement markings and installation and removal of interim pavement markings to maintain a safe work zone on the bridge and approaches Remove and replace stone curb, Length = 411 feet Remove part of the existing bridge deck under the proposed 8 foot wide path, Length = 411 feet Build new concrete path including reinforcing steel, 5 inches deep (average) by 7.5 feet wide by 370 feet long Install dowels into structural bridge deck, attaching the proposed path to the existing bridge deck, Quantity = 822 each Remove of existing 2-rail bridge rail, replace with new 4-rail, Length = 411 feet Remove and replace transition bridge railing from highway guiderail to bridge rail, Length = 64 feet Relocation of scupper downspout drains on bridge, Quantity = 5 each Remove old snow and pedestrian chain link fencing behind bridge rail, install new, Length = 360 feet
