Women's Equality, Liberation & Defense (WELD)
was formed to protect women in the Rochester area and the state of New York from defamation and harassment. We exist to provide a central structure for community organizers, medical providers, and officials to work together to utilize their resources and mobilize their constituents through education and events for the advancement of women's equality. Our coalition believes women's rights to dignity and anonymity when making personal medical decisions should be protected. We strive to be a platform for the discussion and progression of gender equality and to have a meaningful impact on the lives of women everywhere.
Operation Save America is an organization with a three-pronged mission: to demonize abortion, homosexuality and Islam. This summer they will be having a week-long visit to Rochester, to denounce the Women’s Equality Agenda (WEA), legislation that will codify the protections delineated by Roe v. Wade and permanently grant women their right to choose abortion.
WELD has organized a week of activities and events in an effort to de-escalate OSA’s activities, while simultaneously supporting and defending reproductive rights in the face of a continued assault on equality and bodily autonomy.
