This is the first direct collaboration with any educational institution in Nigeria. Preface
The exhibition entitled Harvest of the Harmattan Retreat is made up of a selection of works produced at the Annual Harmattan Workshops. The Harmattan Workshop Series, so called because they usually take place during the dry season months of December to March, is so far the flagship of the Bruce Onobrakpeya Foundation (BOF). The works on show are selected from those produced over a period of six years at the Niger Delta Cultural Centre, (BOFs future headquarters)Agbarha-Otor, Delta State. Some were completed during the workshop itself, others were finished after, and a few were adapted from inspiration and techniques gained at the workshop. The experimental nature of most of the works needs to be emphasized, as some works are slightly unusual and may not necessarily fit the kind of things one is used to seeing. The workshop, which was started in 1998, is a forum where artists can inspire one another to attain higher aesthetics through interaction, as well as the introduction of new materials and ideas. Artists come from all over Nigeria to participate and occasionally, we have had the privilege of visits from foreign artists and resource persons. The participants range from lecturers in higher institutions, secondary and primary school teachers, full-time practicing artists as well as other participants with varying artistic experiences. The programme, which is both interactive and instructive, gives participants the opportunity to work freely on any subjects or themes within the limits of equipment and materials available. Four weeks of intensive studio work is further divided into two sessions of two weeks each and eight departments representing different disciplines within the visual arts such as stone carving, painting, ceramics, printmaking, metal and wood sculpture, mixed media, textiles, bronze casting, jewellery and photography. Other departments are created each year as the facilities become available. Facilitators, who are specialists in their various fields, head each of these departments. The workshops seek to prevent artists from being stagnant. The essence is to help them to continue to produce works that are relevant to the society. Attempts are made to draw ideas and materials from the local environment (Nigeria). These are combined with new inspirations including materials from outside to make a statement about issues and observations, which affect our lives. Finally, the works produced are usually exhibited for the general public to see. This to us is the conclusion of the whole matter. Until the works are available for a wider audience to see, our task is not complete. It is hoped that the show makes some impact on the different people who will see them: the collectors who will acquire works for themselves, corporate heads and managers who will buy for their establishments as well as artists (experienced and beginners) who intend to grow and continue the excitement of discovery and creativity. HARMATTAN WORKSHOP SO FAR: RECONCILIATION OF RHYTHMS AND PROPHESIES
Ovuomaroro Studio & Gallery and residence of Bruce Onobrakpeya, world-renowned artist and printmaker has always been a constant meeting point for scholars, writers, artists and connoisseurs among others. Such visitors stream in from both within and outside the country to appreciate constant development in the works and activities of this Nigerias elder statesman of art. These works, especially prints for which he is widely known, are produced in various techniques often achieved through continuous experimentation and accidental effects. They also trace their origin to a workshop he was privileged to take part in, about three decades ago. The printmaking workshop organised by Prof. Ulli Beier was sponsored by both University of Ibadan and the Mbari Club with a Dutch Professor Ru Van Russem as facilitator. The experience in addition to the one he gained at the Haystack Mountain School of Arts and Craft Maine, in the United States of America, influenced the Agbarha-Otor Harmattan Workshops, which were geared towards wider experimental foci. Since its inception in 1998, it has embraced the participation of all categories of professional and nonprofessional artists. No other environment would have been more ideal than Agbarha-Otor for this project because, this home base of the artists is capable of providing the much-desired atmosphere required for creativity. Wendy Lawrence, a Canadian scholar who was once privileged to visit this quiet town about twenty four years ago describes it as a place where fertile reddish soil brings forth dense vegetation that remains green the year round with smaller streams cutting their way to the sea with intense sunlight piercing through an atmosphere of continual heat and humidity. An environment where the lush natural surroundings of the district are capable of leaving indelible impressions on any ones imagination. Like the Mbari workshops at Ibadan and Oshogbo that of Agbarha-Otor was aimed at engendering the growth of the arts, particularly the visual arts with emphasis on the development of skill acquisition which can only be achieved through experimentation. Secondly, to promote and sensitize the public towards developing interest in the arts thereby highlighting the intrinsic values and benefits of art to the larger society. Barely three years later, its impact on society culminated in the emergence of a group of artists who refer to themselves as Otu-Ewena, meaning a group of skilled workers all of whom were one-time participants of the workshop. In order to expose them further to Nigerian public the National Gallery of Art (NGA) and Bruce Onobrakpeya Foundation (BOF) through the support of the Ford Foundation put up their expositions at the Aina Onabolu Gallery, Lagos. Since their debut in 2002, they have gone further to launch a newsletter and also organized a show of folklore inspired art. Recent events show that activities at the workshop have grown extensively as reflected in the number of participants, ideology and experiments that take place annually.

It started with annual two-week sessions held between mid-February and mid-March each year, but by 2002, there was an explosion of crowds, which made it become necessary to operate in two groups. The tenure of the workshop was equally extended to another month so that each group can be involved in two weeks of participation. In the process, green horns and even the nave were given equal opportunity whenever it was time for creative interaction. Another interesting aspect of the workshop is sharing ideas and techniques, which participants take back to students in their various institutions or disseminate among colleagues. This sort of cross-fertilization is highly beneficial to society. Over time, new areas of interest have been gradually introduced within art disciplines thereby exposing the invisible link between them. The workshop is also a place where creative instincts are re-invigorated since the working environment in Nigeria is highly stressful, especially in the urban areas. For this reason, participants residing in such places see it as an opportunity for retreat. As for the indigenes of Agbarha-Otor, the programme contributes not only to their economic well-being because of the flow of visitors and participants who come together to witness this yearly ritual, but also gives them very unique identity among other communities in the state. It is pertinent to mention that the workshop is gender sensitive. A balance is often struck in terms of male and female ratio of those who attend. This sensitivity has gradually opened it up to the international world, attracting persons from France, America etc. There are also plans to make it operational all year round, while a library is being put in place to foster research. An auditorium/ conference center for use by artists is also part of the master plan while a permanent gallery for contemporary art works is also one of the centers priority. In addition to these, a prominent exhibition of works reflecting the Niger Delta civilization will equally have their place. They are expected to highlight outstanding aspects of the environment so that scholars can relate them with the present generation. The practice is to exhibit the works of participants after each workshop. Encouragement for this has been through public support and interest. For instance, the year 2004 Democracy Day in Asaba, capital of Delta State had as part of its activities, a display of art works by this group of experimentalists. The Works: An Overview. The exhibition being presented is entitled Harvest of the Harmattan Retreat. It is a selection of works from previous workshops but with focus on the idea of Art is Installation, Installation is Art theme of the 2004 workshop. Although Bruce Onobrakpeya Foundation (BOF) has always enjoyed support from local and foreign organizations, groups and agencies, this show is unique in a sense because it is biased more

towards education. It stresses the need for co-operation between institutions i.e. a formal and informal one the Pan African University and the Niger Delta Cultural Centre, an outfit of BOF. This meeting point is a very important achievement in Nigerias educational history. The works draw inspiration from the environment particularly from materials such as wood, fibre, discarded metals and so on, which are quite in abundance. They discuss the environment in addition to exploring issues related to cultural background and post-modern techniques. The need to synthesize and experiment with forms and materials is emphasized since it would open up clues for further investigation. Such results will be useful to professional artists, researchers and formal institutions of art. This show features works of artists who have either served as facilitator / participants at one time or the other. such names include, John Agberia, Andrew Onobrakpeya, Duke Asidere, Olu Amoda, Peju Layiwola, Mike Omoighe, Bruce and Ufuoma Onobrakpeya, Gbenga Aguda, Bode Olaniran, Ese Odokuma, Moses Unokwah and Kunle Osundina to just mention a few. While it is actually difficult to discuss the works of this magnitude in detail because of the nature of the paper it must be pin-pointed that they all saliently highlight the relevance of indigenous art when it comes to interpreting modern ideas with a view to de-mystifying the diabolic impressions some Africans including Europeans have about traditional religious practices in the continent. Materials vary in the same manner as techniques. They include sculptures in metal, stone, paintings in oil and mixed media, printmaking, wood and photography. The 2004 workshop, which is specially dedicated to two creative giants in Nigeria- Wole Soyinka and Yusuf Grillo, drew participants from all over the country. Group productions were encouraged thus investing each work with very unique identity. There are instances where as many as twenty (20) persons worked on a single production. They are usually delightful looking. Through the workshops, several artists have been privileged to encounter tools, and materials and techniques, which have turned them into multi-media artists, shared the experience of production methods, which are quite peculiar to our cultural environment. There are cases of participants who are neither sculptors nor painters but got engaged with metal fabrication, monoprints, ceramic production and stone carving which is an almost lost tradition in this country. Abamwa, Oghenekevwe Oghenekevwe Abamwa is a graduate of Bendel State University now (Ambrose Alii University), EkpomaAbraka, BA (Fine Arts) and the University of Nigeria Nsukka MFA (Ceramics). Adekunle, Olushola Olushola Adekunle is a computer science student at Ibadan Polytechnic. She developed an interest in art and apprenticed herself to Ovuomaroro Studio, Lagos. Adeyemi, Kunle Kunle Adeyemi is the immediate past chairman of SNA Lagos State. He graduated from Yaba College of Technology (HND) and University of Benin (MFA) in Painting and Printmaking respectively. Afolayan, Oladapo Oladapo Afolayan trained at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, (BA, MFA Sculpture) He is presently a Senior lecturer in the Department of Sculpturel Ceramics at the Auchi Polytechnic. Commissions include the Eyo Masquerade statue at Lagos House Abuja. He is the founder International Stone League, Nigeria. Agbaelusi, Abiodun Abiodun Agbaelusi attended the Ibadan Polytechnic and Auchi Polytechnic. Exhibitions in Nigeria and other African countries include Statue of Liberty (I am Still Standing) to commemorate September 11 Terrorist Attack in Lome, Togo. Agberia John (Dr.) Dr. John Agberia studied at the University of Benin(BA Ceramics), School of Oriental and African Stud i es London, the University of East Anglia and the University of Port Harcourt (Ph.D.). Ahononu, Nduwhite Nduwhite Ahononu went to the University of Nigeria Nsukka (BA Painting). He is the coordinator Magnificent 10 Fingers Artists Society. Ajaegbu, Martin Martin Ajaegbu attended Institute of Management and Technology Enugu, University of Benin and Delta State University Abraka. He currently teaches Ceramics at the College of Education Warri, Delta State. Akpojotor, Patrick Patrick Akpojotor is a student of Government Technical College Ado-Soba, Lagos and on Industrial Attachment with Ovuomaroro Studio Lagos. Akpokabayen, Barrett Barrett Akpokabayen attended the Obafemi Awolowo University, lie Ife. (BA Fine Arts, Graphics). He is an instructor in Graphics and multi-media, at the Yaba College of Technology, School of Art. Alagwu, Chukwukadibia Chuks Alagwu , worked with the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) as a Principal Superintendent of Press (PSP). He had degrees from Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, the College of Education Technical Lagos and the University of Benin (MFA, Printmaking). He died early this year after a brief illness. May his soul rest in peace. Amoda, Olu Olu Amoda is a sculpture graduate of the Auchi Polytechnic (1983). He has attended several workshops and conferences as well as artist-in-residence programmes in parts of Africa, Europe and the United States of America. Currently he teaches Metal Design at the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. Asidere, Duke Duke Asidere attended Ahmadu Bello University (BA, MFA Painting). Lectured in Auchi Polytechnic 1990 to 1995, and participated in over 20 group shows and several solo exhibitions. He is presently, a lecturer at Delta State Polytechnic. Ayandepo, Ayalandun Ayalandun Ayandepo is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife (BA Fine Arts). He studied Wood carving under the wings of Prof. Agbo Folarin. He is currently a lecturer at Adeseuri Ogundoyin Campus of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State. Ayoade, Lanre Lanre Ayoade graduated from the Yaba College of Technology (HND Painting) He is currently a full time studio artist in Lagos. Balogun, Iskeel Iskeel Balogun attended Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and the Nigerian Institute of Journalism. He has worked in NTA as a graphics and set designer and currently a school Principal. He also the president Visual Arts Teachers Association.

Bazunu,Harrie Harrie Bazunu is a graduate of the University of Benin, BA (Fine Art) 1990 and MFA (Sculpture) 1995. Exhibitions include Drum of Creation (1990) at the National Gallery of Art, Lagos. Commissions include the bust of late Chief Mc Neil Ejaife, former Principal of Urhobo College, Effurun, from 1948-1968. Datok, Dayang Dayang Datok is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria B.A (Hons.) Industrial Design 1994 and th Federal College of Education (Tech) Omoku Technical Teachers Certificate (2002). Prizes in art including a Diploma for participation in the UNESCO Art Exhibition, Paris (1985) and Best Graduating Student in Ceramics (1994). He is presently a lecturer at the Federal College of Education (Tech) Omoku Rivers State. Ecoma, Victor Victor Ecoma is a Painter/ Anthropologist. He studied the University of Nigeria Nsukka (BA Fine Arts) and the University of Ibadan (MA Anthropology). Edewor, Nelson Nelson Edewor graduated from the University of Benin (BA Fine Art; MFA Sculpture) respectively. Exhibitions include Night Mare at Noon (solo exhibition Benin City,
1999. Commissions include Symbol of Justice for the Law Faculty of the Delta State University, Abraka.
Fatukasi, Bamidele Bamidele Fatukasi is a graduate of the University of Benin (BA Fine Arts) . Folaranmi, Stephen Stephen Folaranmi is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, lIe-lfe, Osun State (BA Fine Arts; MFA Painting) He has worked with Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, Ibadan (1998) Studio Artist, Fred Archibong Studio Lagos (1990) and Gomo Art Gallery, Asaba, Delta State (1995-1996). Currently he is a lecturer in the Department of Fine Arts, Obafemi Awolowo University, lIe-lfe. Harrison Elizabeth (Mrs) Elizabeth Harrison teaches art at Starland Private School in Ogba-Ikeja, Lagos State. She attended University of Ibadan, National Teacher's Institute, Kaduna and the University of Lagos. Heymann,Ogbemi Ogbemi Heymann attended Auchi Polytechnic (HND) Exhibitions include Treasures of Time at the Pendulum Gallery Lekki (2002). Idiong, Stella (Dr.) Dr. Idiong is a senior lecturer in Graphics at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. She has degrees from Col u mbia University, New York, Mich i gan State University, and Southern University Baton Rouge all in the United States of America. Idugie, Friday Friday Idugie is a graduate of Auchi Polytechnic (HND) He is currently a senior lecturer there. Exhibitions include the Biennale Exhibition in Havana Cuba 1986, Nigeria at a Glance at the Pakistan National Gallery, Istanbul 1996 and the All Africa First ladies Summit in Abuja 1997. Ifesieh, Jude Jude Ifesieh is a graduate of Institue of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu. His most recent exhibition is Beauty in Line a solo exhibition at Didi Museum (2003). Inyang,Ofonime Ofonime Inyang is a graduate of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State (BA Fine Arts) is a full time studio artists based in Uyo. Kukoyi, Shola Shoal Kukoyi is a lecturer in sculpture at the Federal Polytechnic Auchi. He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (BA Fine Arts) and the University of Benin (MPA Sculpture) recent commission is the 2003 NIPOGA Games Mascot.
Ejoh,Okiemute Okiemute Ejoh, is a student of the Fine Arts Department Delta State University she was an industrial attach with Ovuomaroro Studio, Lagos. Ejuomah, Austin Austin Ejuomah is a graduate of Auchi Polytechnic and Yaba College of Technology. He is currently a full time practicing artist. Ekwere, Nsikan Nsikan Ekwere studied Fine Arts at the University of Uyo (1997). One of his very important works is Unity, which is in the Akwa Ibom State Liaison Office Abuja. Emodah, Klem Klem Emodah teaches Ceramics and Pottery at Auchi Polytechnic. A graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, (BA Ceramics) 1974. He has had four solo and over twelve group exhibitions. Etsename Emmanuel Emmanuel Estename is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University and the Federal University of Science and Technology Akure, (FUTA) Ondo State. He currently is a lecturer at Department of Industrial Design FUTA

Layiwola, Peju Dr.Peju Layiwola is a graduate of the University of Benin (BA Fine Arts) and the University of Ibadan MA, PhD Art History) where her special skills are in Sculpture, Metal Design and Jewellery. She has participated in several exhibitions in Nigeria and abroad and is currently a lecturer at University of Lagos. Nze,Klara Klaranze as she prefers to be called graduated with an HND Painting from Auchi Polytechn i c 1999 and a postgraduate Diploma from the University of Abuja. She is presently an Art teacher at Government Day School Gwagwalada, Abuja. Exhibitions include Women and War Internationa l Red Cross Exhibition (2000) , Niger i an Women in Art held at the National Gallery of Art, Lagos (2001), and Out of Africa at Omega Abuja (2003), Pastel Afficionados at Mydrim Gallery Ikoyi Lagos (2003). Obayendo, Temple Temple attended Agbarha-Otor Primary School and Ibru College both inAgbarha-Otor, Delta State. Odokuma, Ese (Dr.) Dr. Odokuma is presently a lecturer with the Delta State University, Abraka. She has Masters and Doctorate degree from the University of Ibadan, as well' as a Bachelors degree from the University of Benin. Ogunojemite, Gboyega Gboyega Ogunojemite is a graphic designer. He is a pioneer head of the Design Unit of the Yaba College of Technology (HND), and University of Benin (MFA). His commissions include the concrete cast logo designs for the gates of the prestigious Ikoyi Club, Lagos. Ojo,Olaniyi Olaniyi Ojo has an NCE in Fine Art Education from St. Andrew's College of Education in Oyo, Oyo State. He is currently undergoing a degree programme at Ado-Ekiti University. Okoro Alfred Chief Alfred Okoro is a senior lecturer at the College of Education, Warri Delta State. Okoronkwo, Ikechukwu Ikechukwu Okoronkwo is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. (BA, MFA Painting). He has participated in a number of exhibitions in Lagos, Enugu and Abuja. Ola-Afolayan,Olubunmi Olubunmi Ola- Afolayan holds an HND certificate from The Polytechnic Auchi in Textiles. She has worked with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Environment, Benin City, Omatseye Textiles Company, Sapele.
Olaniran, Bode Bode Olaniran graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (Diploma, Painting) 1988. He is a studio assistant at Ovuomaroro Gallery where he learned printmaking under Dr. Bruce Onobrakpeya. His works are widely collected. Olatunji-Aguda, Gbenga Gbenga Olatunji-Aguda attended The Polytechnic,lbadan and Auchi Polytechnic, for the OND and HND in General Art and Painting. Oluseye,Oyedele Oyedele Oluseye is a graduate of Ibadan Polytechnic (2002). He is currently works at the Ovuomaroro Gallery and has just completed his National Youth Service. Oluwasanmi, Dare Dare Oluwasnmi is a student at the Yaba College of Technology majoring in Photography. Omoighe, Mike Mike Omoighe trained at the Yaba College ofTechnology, Auchi Polytechnic and the University of Ibadan. He has participated and curated several exhibitions in Nigeria; prominent among them is sthe Guinness Art show (1990). He is currently the Dean of the School of Art and printing Yaba College of Technology. Onah,Kent Kent Onah is a graduate of Auchi polytechnic. He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Education from the University of Benin (1999). He is presently a lecturer at the Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State. Onakufe, Salubi Salubi Onakufe studied at the Auchi Polytechnic (HND), and the University of Missouri, United States of America BA Art Education, Paint, MA Art Education Warri, Delta State. Onobrakpeya, Andrew Andrew Onobrakpeya attended Garrick Grammar School where he obtained his WASC/GCE in 1969. His interest in art began during the first and second Harmattan Workshops. He has tried his hands on painting, printmaking, stone and wood carving. Onobrakpeya, Bruce Bruce Onobrakpeya is an experimental artist and teacher. He graduated from the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology (now Ahmadu Bello University) in 1962. He attended printmaking workshops at Ibadan, Osogbo and Ife. He is the initiator of the Harmattan Workshop series started in 1998. In 2002 he received the national award of Member of the Federal Republic MFR from President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Onobrakpeya, Godwin Godwin Onobrakpeya attended Lagos State College of Science and Technology, the Federal Polytechnic lIaro, and obtained an HND in Business Administration. In 1984 he started working in Ovuomaroro as frame maker/studio manager. Onobrakpeya ventured into wood and stone carving after attending the Harmattan Workshop which he has participated in since its inception. Onobrakpeya, Ufuoma Ufuoma Onobrakpeya is graduated from the University of Benin (1995) and Camberwell College of Art UK (2002). He has participated in a number of group shows including My Genesis at Chevron Nigeria Limited (1997); New Trends in Nigeria at Texaco Overseas Nigeria Petroleum (1998) and Promoter of Nigerian Arts 5: Featuring Bruce Onobrakpeya at the Goethe Institute, Lagos (1999). Onodje, Raymond Raymond Onodje studied Textile Design at the University of Benin (BA Applied Arts; MA History and International Relations) . Onwughalu, Leonard Leonard Onwughalu is a businessman and minister of the gospel with Evanel Pentecostal Church Ejigbo. He is a graduate of the school of Theology of the I. B. M. I international School of Ministry Lagos. This is his first time at the Harmattan workshop. Oparaocha, Chile Chile Oparaocha is a sculptor, painter and filmmaker. He studied Fine Art at Ahmadu Bello University.Zaria and is currently lecturing at the Fine Art and Design Department of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Orowole,Oluwole Oluwole Orowole is a student of Government Technical College Ado- Soba, Lagos and an industrial attachee with Ovuomaroro Studio, Lagos. Osundina, Kunle Kunle Osundina is a graduate of the University of Ife. He has participated in several group exhibitions. He is currently a full time practicing artist. Ovbiebo Richardson Richardson Ovbiebo is a student of the Yaba College of Technology. Ovraiti, Samuel Sam Ovraiti graduated in Painting from Auchi Polytechnic (HND) and the University of Benin (MFA)in 1983 and 1999 respectively. He taught Painting at Auchi Polytechnic for ten years a full time studio artist. _
Ovlri, Alaric Alaric Oviri is a graduate of Yaba college of Technology and has participated in several group exhibitions in Nigeria. He is currently a Studio Assistant with the Ovuomaroro Studio and Gallery. Owolabi, Ayodele Ayodele Owolabi started his art practice under Adeoye Silas whose paintings are Akin to George Seurat's pointillist style of painting. He has an OND from Lagos State polytechnic, Ikorodu. Sampson Akaninyene John Akaninyene John Sampson otherwise known as A. John is a graduate of the University Cross River State (now the University of Uyo) BA Fine Art 1989 and the University of Benin MFA Printmaking (1994) Prizes includes awards for excellence in Graphics, Textiles and Printmaking including the Uche Okeke Prize for drawing and the Bruce Onobrakpeya Prize for Printmaking at the Bestart'96. Sampson is currently a lecturer with the University of Uyo. Sullayman, Taiwo Taiwo Sullayman holds a BA Fine Art Degree from Ahmadu Bello University and MFA (Sculpture) University of Benin. A member of the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), International Stone League (ISL) and 'the Pan African Circle of Artist, Sullayman is also a lecturer at Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi. Edo State Thompson, Folasade Folasade Thompson graduated with an HND in Fashion Design from Yaba College of Technology (1997) Thompson teaches Fashion Design at Yaba College of Technology. Ubigho, Stella Stella Ubigho attended Auchi Polytechnic where she obtained a HND in Painting (1994). She worked as a visual artist with the Observer Newspaper and Lintas Advertising 1990-1992. she also taught at the Command school Kaduna (1995-1996) and as an artist in residence at the Hieroglyphs Gallery Victoria Island. Udoma,Ekpo Ekpo Udoma is an art administrator with degrees in Fine Arts, Art History and Art Management from University of Benin (1984), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1989) and Pratt-Institute, New York, USA (2001) respectively. Udoma is presently a consultant to Bruce Onobrakpeya Foundation and has been the administrator for the 4th and 5th editions of the annual Harmattan Workshop.

Ufuah lgberaese Igberaese Ufuah studied art at the Abraka College of Educatio'n,NCE 1980,University of Benin,Bachelor of Education in Graph i cs , 1983,University of Ibadan , Masters in visual art, 1998. He has participated in several g rou p ex h i bit i ons including the 2002 Harmat t an Workshop Exhibition. Uhumwagho, Helen Helen Uhumwagho is a graduate of the Auchi Polytechnic (1983 & 1989) and the University of Benin (1995) where she obtained her OND, HND and MFA in Painting respectively Exhibitions include Nigerian women in art, Abuja (2001), Crossing Boundaries & Frontiers, Bamako, mall (2002). Umelue, Ngozi Mrs. Ngozi Umelue is a graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (BA Fine Arts) presently she is studying for her Masters Degree (Visual Arts) at the University of Ibadan.
Umobuarie, Joy Mrs. Joy Umobuarie is a graduate of the University of Benin (1988). She is currently a lecturer at Auchi Polytechnic since 1992. She is also currently doing a Master programme at the University of Benin. Exhibition attended include Heritage 98, Angles of the Edo Artistry, Sani Abacha Cultural Centre Benin City (1998) and Benin City Art Exhibition (2000). Unokwah, Moses Moses Unokwah graduated from Auchi Polytechnic in 1990, specializing in Graphic design. In 1987, he had his industrial attachment in the Ovuomaroro Gallery as a studio assistant where he is still working. He has taken part in several group exhibitions in Nigeria and in the USA Moses has participated in all the editions of the Harmattan Workshop. He was an assistant facilitator at the last workshop. Usen,Uwa Uwa Usen graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with a BA (Fine Art) and MFA (Sculpture) in 1985 and 1988 respectively. He worked as a Graphic artist at Image Communications Limited. He has been a lecturer in the Sculpture Unit of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State since 1989. he is the present Chairman Society of Nigerian Artists, Akwa Ibom State.
