New features =============== DisplayLink Software Release 5.5 delivers the following features: - 'Fit to TV' functionality for HDMI TVs - Windows Presentation Foundation compatibility on Windows XP - GUI menu enhancements - Improved video performance on Windows 7 and Vista 'Fit to TV' functionality for HDMI TVs -------------------------------------A new user interface option allows to correct overscan on HDMI TVs by fitting the visible image to the TV screen. The 'Fit to TV' interface shows an easy to use preview and both basic and advanced settings. Windows Presentation Foundation compatibility on Windows XP ----------------------------------------------------------Applications using the Windows Presentation Foundation framework from Microsoft work correctly on Windows XP systems with 2 or more DisplayLink screens.

GUI menu enhancements --------------------The DisplayLink GUI has been streamlined to offer quicker access to its functionality and increase its ease of use. Changes: - Removed the 'Color quality' menu item - The 'DisplayLink Manager' menu item is now enabled and opend Windows Display Properties - The 'Advanced' menu item has been renamed 'Advanced Configuration' - The 'Notebook Monitor Off' menu item is now only enabled on notebooks. It will be disabled on other systems - Improved video performance on Windows 7 and Vista --------------------------------------------------The DisplayLink software now provides smoother video playback on Windows 7 and Windows Vista. Fixed issues since R5.5 (5.5.27797) --------------------------------------DisplayLink Software upgraded through Windows Update will not work correctly after rebooting the system (issue affecting releases R5.3 to R5.4 on Windows update). (9658) Blue screen on Windows 7 on some platforms when rebooting after having applied layout changes. (9631) The DisplayLink GUI stops functioning correctly after switching GPU on some ATI/Intel hybrid systems. (10065, 10106) Sometimes there are two DisplayLink icons present in the system tray. (9807) Sometimes the DisplayLink icon is missing in the system tray. (9545, 9837) Video in Basic Mode not working with the latest Windows updates on both Windows Vista and Windows 7. (1609) Video playback issues on Microsoft Windows 7 with the latest NVIDIA Drivers. (10061) DisplayLink USB monitor could occasionally remain blank after a PC reboot. (9622) E. Supported Operating Systems ============================== This release supports the following operating systems (server editions are not supported unless explicitly stated): - Windows XP SP2 (32-bit edition only) - Windows XP SP3 (32-bit edition only) - Windows Vista SP1 (32-bit and 64-bit editions) - Windows Vista SP2 (32-bit and 64-bit editions) - Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit editions) Windows 2000 SP4 is supported by older versions of the DisplayLink software: http://www.displaylink.com/downloads Video: video is supported in extend mode with most popular video players on

Windows XP and Windows 7/Vista in WDDM/Aero Mode. Video support is limited in other configurations including mirror mode and Windows 7/Vista Basic Mode. F. Supported Hardware ===================== - DL115 / DL125 / DL165 / DL195 devices are supported. - DL120 / DL160 devices are supported. - Earlier devices are supported for backwards compatibility. I. Known Issues and Limitations =============================== System behaviour with DisplayLink attached screens has been well tested. Testing covers plug/unplug, mode changes, playing video, hibernate, sleep/standby, multiple users, different user rights, attached screen as primary screen, attached screen as only screen, and other aspects. Some use cases my exhibit minor issues, general troubleshooting recommendations are: - detach then reattach the DisplayLink device's USB cable - change display settings using DL-GUI (Vista only) - change display settings using WDP. - ensure you have the latest graphics drivers installed for your system GPU.
