Blog Post: By Zenobia, Mansoor and Gautam Philips Indias HR team got familiar with social media when

our head of HR, Yashwant Mahadik got social media enthusiast, blogger and CLO of Wipro Abhijit Bhaduri to address us about the way social media is changing business and specially for us how it is changing the nature of engagement between employers and employees and prospective employees. So encouraged, we all joined Twitter and also started our employer Facebook page We Are Philips India and Twitter account - @HRPhilips After downloading the Twitter app on our phones we noticed that our usage went up a lot! When stuck in a queue or in traffic, we reach for our Twitter app and browse through it. Twitter gives us two things, information and conversation. Real time news from across the world and thoughts and content from world class management thought leaders like Tom Peters. It also enables us to keep in touch with our colleagues from other location in a way that email doesnt. For example a few of us have Twitter conversations about sports and movies and get to know each other as more than just professionals. Being a full team on Twitter we also engage with the larger HR community (both global and Indian) with leaders like Anand Pillai, Abhijit Bhaduri, R Elango and consultants like Tanvi Gautam (who hosts hashtag chat #IndiaHRchat ) and also with the extended Philips family. Yash is a social media enthusiast and whenever he goes for a HR conference he makes it a point to ask HR professionals to leverage social media.
