Klout Score

Klout measures your combined influence on Facebook and Twitter . Scores are between 1 and 100 The higher the score the most influential you are. The median score is 40. Scores increase exponentially. Scores are higher if you are a content creator than if you are a content curator.

+

Compare Yourself With Others

Klout asks you what you talk about and then shows you who is the most influential in that field on SM. According to the current Klout scores Planned Parenthood is the most influential social media actor on the topic of abortion. They score 86. We score 42. So, we now know that their model is working and we could emulate it. This also tells you who else you should engage with .

+

Who Are Your Influencers

Klout also tells you who you influence the most, and who engages with your content most actively. These people are your influencers. Here is ASAP’s top ten.

The Klout Philosophy: more useful to have small number of followers who are very influential than have huge numbers of followers who don’t interact at all.

Closing Words On Klout
Why Use Klout

Caveats
 

Klout tells you if your connections are weak or strong. A falling klout score tells you you are doing something wrong Klout shows you which relationships to sustain, and which new relationships to build.

Klout has to be read in context. If you compare random scores, then you get random readings. For Eg, Random bloggers have a higher klout score than Barack Obama.

Compare scores with similar profiles to avoid this confusion.
