Expectations: 1.) Student will come to class prepared everyday with ALL course materials. 2.) Student will be in their seat by the time the bell rings. 3.) Student will listen attentively when a classmate or the teacher is talking. 4.) Student will follow directions the first time they are given. 5.) Student will refrain from cursing or using foul language in the classroom. NOTE: Respect is a MUST in this class! Each student is expected to be considerate of how his/her actions and attitude affect other people. Student actions are expected to reflect a positive and considerate environment AT ALL TIMES. HONORS CLAUSE: This is an Honors course and will be treated as such. Students can expect more homework and more rigorous work than their counterparts.

v Homework will be assigned at each class meeting. If assigned, it must be completed before the beginning of the next class. Homework will be assessed on a 3 point system. If the homework is handed in on time, every problem has been attempted neatly and clearly, then generally 3 points are awarded. However, for each of the following problems, at least 1 point will be deducted: not all problems attempted, work not shown, not corrected. Any student who fails to hand in an assignment will be given 0 points for the assignment and will have until the end of the quarter to hand in the completed work and receive 1 point. Extensions may be made for special circumstances, such as an extended illness or a prearranged absence. v Quizzes will be given approximately once a week to check for understanding. Most quizzes are announced beforehand, HOWEVER, the teacher reserves the right to give pop quizzes at any time. v Tests will be given at the end of each unit. The date for each test will be announced at the beginning of the unit (8 10 days in advance). If you are absent for a quiz or test, you must be prepared to make-up the test your first day back at school. It may be necessary for you to plan to stay for one hour after school or come to school one hour early (at 7 a.m.) to make-up the test. v Group Work: You will periodically be allowed to work on assignments with a partner if you choose to, but individuals are responsible for turning their own assignments in on time. Copying of assignments is NOT allowed. (Paired and other group work is meant to serve as an opportunity for mutual mentorship.) When group projects are assigned, the expectations for the group will be communicated at that time. v Honor Code & Academic Integrity: Students are expected to abide by the honor code and academic integrity guidelines as outlined in the Student Handbook. v Extended Time Accommodations: It is the responsibility of the student to notify the teacher of the need for extended time on a test or quiz, and it is the responsibility of the teacher to arrange for the extended time so that it does not impact other classes during the day. v Technology: Calculator and computer use on homework, and other student work permitted only with express teacher authorization. Use of a computer on tests and quizzes is prohibited. These may be used for MATH PURPOSES ONLY. Any student using their computer for non-Math activities will receive a detention. v Cell phone policy: All devices (except computers) must be turned off when students are in the classroom or any building on campus. If an electronic device goes off during class, it will be taken from the student and given to the Dean of Students. In addition, the student will serve a detention. v Calculator policy: Any use of the calculator on homework, tests, or quizzes must be approved by the teacher including the use of any applications or programs. Calculators will be checked regularly by the teacher. If inappropriate material is found, consequences will be according to school policy. Positive Consequences: You will be acknowledged and positively rewarded for appropriate behavior. You will receive preparation for college and see an improvement in organization skills. If you participate in class activities and complete all assignments, you will be rewarded with success in math! Individual Consequences First violation: Discussion with the student in private after school Second violation: Detention, written response to behavior including the solution, contact to parent, and sent to Dean of Students For further clarification of discipline and attendance policies, please refer to the St. Monica Catholic High School Parent/Student Handbook.
