Want an excuse to have a...

PARTY?
National Night Out
Is the perfect excuse!

Tuesday, August 4, 2009
Last year’s National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 34 million people participated in National Night Out1. On Tuesday, August 4, 2009, neighborhoods throughout Sacramento are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “26th Annual National Night Out” crime/drug prevention event. From 6 to 10 pm, residents throughout the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. National Night Out is designed to:  Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;  Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;  Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and  Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Many neighborhoods throughout Sacramento will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, ice cream socials, bike rodeos, parades, visits from the police and dignitaries, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anticrime rallies.

So please join us again for America’s Night Out Against Crime as we give a farewell party to crime and drugs!
