2014 INTERNATIONAL IVY SPORTS SYMPOSIUM Planning Committee Application The International Ivy Sports Symposium is seeking graduate

and undergraduate students alike to serve as members of its 2013-2014 Planning Committee. The International Ivy Sports Symposium is an annual student-run conference that is considered one of the sports industrys premier events. The Symposium enables the industrys most successful leaders and executives to share invaluable knowledge with their peers and potential successors. Although traditionally hosted at one of the U.S.'s prominent Ivy League institutions, this 2014 iteration will be the ISSs first-ever international endeavor and will be hosted at Emirates Stadium on May 8th, 2014. For more information about the International Ivy Sports Symposium, please use the following link: http://www.sportssymposium.org In conjunction with the 2013-14 Co-Chairs and Executive Director, the Planning Committee will be responsible for all aspects of the conference. Positions are unpaid but will provide unparalleled exposure to the key leaders and issues that drive the global sports industry. Members of the Planning Committee will be expected to work approximately 10 hours per week running from September 2013 until May 2014. All committee members are also expected to be in attendance of the main event held on May 8th, 2014. Open positions are as follows:

Speakers Director

The Speakers Director will be responsible for leading the planning committees efforts to select, invite and accommodate top quality speakers for the 2014 International Ivy Sports Symposium. This individual will first work in conjunction with the Content Director to plan panel and workshop topics, and then collaborate with the planning committee to identify and invite high-level speakers to fill these openings. Finally, once the speakers are confirmed, the Speakers Director will be responsible for maintaining speaker communications leading up to the event. These positions require a high attention to detail, strong intrapersonal skills, and preferably a communications background.

Content Director
The Content Director will shape the substance of the 2014 International Ivy Sports Symposium. In association with the Speakers Director and Attendee Experience Director, the Content Director will focus primarily on designing the panel and workshop discussion topics. He/she should have a solid understanding of relevant current issues in all areas of the sports industry, as well as the critical thinking to build the 2014 International Ivy Sports Symposiums content around these issues. The Content Director will also coordinate communications between the moderators and panelists. This position requires in-depth knowledge of current issues, a creative mindset, and strong writing skills.

Marketing and Public Relations Director


The Marketing and Public Relations Director will be responsible for advertising the 2014 International Ivy Sports Symposium and strengthening the events brand. He/she will manage online content (e.g. speaker features, panel and workshop information, Wikipedia, etc.), draft and distribute press releases, establish new marketing contacts for the Symposium, and coordinate with the Co-Chairs and Executive Director to ensure brand consistency. Moreover, the Marketing and Public Relations Director will manage requests for press credentials and coordinate media relations at the 2014 International Ivy Sports Symposium. This position requires strong writing skills and preferably a media background.

Social Media Coordinator


The Social Media Coordinator will have a smaller role with heavier involvement during the lead up to the conference. This individual will be responsible for managing and raising awareness for the International Ivy Sports Symposium through all social channels (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, etc.). This includes interacting with speakers twitter handles and managing day-of communications to keep attendees and followers engaged in the event as it happens live.

Logistics Director

The Logistics Director will manage the event logistics for the 2014 International Ivy Sports Symposium. He/she will serve as the Planning Committees boots on the ground during the planning process to ensure the Symposiums facilities needs are met, communicate with vendors, organize volunteers, and complete various logistical tasks as they arise. This position requires that the Logistics Director be a student at the Symposiums host school, have a high attention to detail, and preferably possess an event planning background.

Attendee Experience Director


The Attendee Experience Director work closely with the Logistics Director and will be responsible for optimizing the day-of experience at the 2014 International Ivy Sports Symposium. He/she will ensure that both students and professionals leave the Symposium feeling satisfied with their takeaways by consulting on the relevance of content and meaningfulness of networking interactions. Additionally, the Attendee Experience Director will operate the Symposiums Eventbrite platform and design networking and Symposium 101 workshops in advance of the Symposium. Finally, the Attendee Experience Director will also be responsible for the post-event survey, which should capture attendee feedback and inform future improvements to the ISS. This position requires strong intrapersonal skills, a creative mindset, and preferably a background in hospitality.

Corporate Relations Director


The Corporate Relations Director will work with the Committee Co-Chairs and Executive Director to coordinate relations with the Symposiums sponsors. The CR Director will ensure that ISS sponsors are appropriately represented at the Symposium and through our relevant communication channels. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for company outreach in order to market the event to industry professionals. This position requires strong intrapersonal skills, a high attention to detail, and preferably a background in event planning.
