The Peace Corps strictly restricts ownership and limits the use of
motorcycles by Volunteers and trainees. Motorcycles are more dangerous
to operate than other motor vehicles, and in the past, they have contributed
signifcantly to deaths of, and injuries to, Volunteers and others. In rare
cases, the use of a motorcycle may be authorized in a particular country or
area if it is judged integral to successful project implementation and the
