Severe respiratory distress with extension of head & neck , open mouth breathing & froth on the lips

*it is acute infectious respiratory disease of cattle , buffaloes , & sheep

Cause :
Pasteurella multocida ch` by -septicemia -fever - signs of bronchopneumonia - high mortality rate *take care of stress as cold & wet weather , hard work , poor ventilation & prolonged transportation

Clinical signs:
1-Peracute form → sudden death without clinical signs 2-Acute form → ● fever (41-42 ºc),depression ,anorexia ●moist cough & dyspnoea ●nasal discharge (serous to mucopurulent) ●crackles sound on auscultation of lung ●swelling of head , throat & brisket

Treatment
1-I.M or I.V injection f Sulphadimidine 33.3% → 4 ml / 10 kg b.wt / 4-5 days (drug of choice) or Streptopencid → 2 vial / 12 hr / cattle /3-5 days /I.M → ½ vial / 12 hr / sheep / 3-5 days/I.M 2-Symptomatic treatment as : a-I/V or I/M injection of Dexamethasone → 5-12 cm / 24hr b-I/V or I/M injection of Avil → 1 amp / 70 kg b.wt / 24hr c-I/V or I/M injection of Aminophyline → 1 amp / 70 kg b.wt /24 hr d- I/V injection of Dextrose 5 % → 1-2 liter N.B: **all pervious medications given once by I/V infusion with glucose except streptopencid (if used)

Vaccination

killed oil adjuvant vaccine
**Dose : 2 ml / I.M / cattle & buffaloes 1 ml / I.M / sheep & goat **age of vaccination : -calves → 4-6 months of age & 2nd dose after 3-6 months **give immunity for 1 year (revaccinate every year)
