“Let’s bridge the generation gap while bringing SKILLS and JOBS to our community”
Olanike Alabi

“As your Council Member, I will fight for the issues most important to our community.”
“For the young people who are not going to college, a Training Center will provide us with the kind of skills that we can use to be productive members of our community, and at the same time we can learn from our Elders ” •Fight to maintain and protect rent stabilization, rent control, affordable and public housing for the tenants and families of our community •Aggressively advocate for legislation, initiatives and assistance to address the foreclosure crisis still affecting so many residents

•Continue to support efforts that will provide access to quality, affordable, primary and preventive healthcare programs that residents of the district can count on •Fight for adequate funding for hospitals and community based healthcare and diagnostic/treatment centers •Oppose Hospital closures

“Seniors always wanted to find a place to share their skills with others. The Multi-Purpose Center is the right place to not only help young people but also to rebuild the community”

•Support education reforms which will challenge and prepare our children and youth, and place them on the right track to compete in a global economy. •Advocate for policies that will decrease class size, provide adequate services and resources to boost overall performance of our students and our teachers “Wow, a Multi-Purpose Community Center with a Skills Training Center. The community will be able to retrain workers who have been laid off and upgrade their skills”

•Support the expansion of the New York State Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage Program (EPIC). •Work with federal and state legislators to develop housing for seniors.

Small Business

•Continue to endorse initiatives that will give small business owners access to technical assistance and capital through low-interest loans and grants.

•Support neighborhood slow zones and traffic calming measures. •Advocate for more funding for mass transit and an end to unfair rate hikes.

“This plan of a Multi-Purpose Community Center is really a good idea - bringing Seniors and the younger generations together”

“I want to create a Multi-Purpose Center where Seniors like yourself can share your knowledge and skills with the next generation. That’s the kind of leadership I want to bring to our community” Olanike Alabi
