Patrick J. Blanchette Subject: Interim Chief of Police Dear Mayor Lantigua, As I have it understood today is the first day of Chief Romero's retirement. As of yet I have not heard any official statement by you or your office as to who will be the Interim Chief of Police. Please provide the department, the community a statement on this matter. I am sure that you are aware that the Chief of Police runs one of if not the most if not the most important departments in our city government. Leaving them in limbo while may offer you more control over the day to day operations will cause problems of command and control, as well as basic morale. The men and women of the department and the tax payers of this City deserve to know who will be running our Police department. Leaving no one in charge will only bring chaos to a department that is trying to do so much with so little. It is your duty as mayor to communicate your interim appointment. It would be great to hear from you before close of business today. Sincerely,
