1.0 INTRODUCTION

The only part in this walkthrough which contains colour is the cover so if possi ble I advise printing the walkthrough to use it. This can be easier to follow an d allows you to makes annotations.

1.1 MY VIEW ON WALKTHROUGHS

I've completed this particular game both with and without the help of a walkthro ugh or guide and found that although it may have been more exciting and nerve-ra cking without one, it took a long time and I found myself getting bad ratings wh ere I was so slow and unconfident. I often find this with similar games and beca use of it I usually prefer to play with the help of some form of guide. However, I'm sure I am not alone in believing that many (nearly all, in fact) walkthroug h guides are either too vague or do not help with certain important aspects of a

game (ie. finding non-mandatory items like health or explaining exactly when so mething is going to happen). n ormal people are killing complete strangers.com. NYPD agent Tyler Miles and the priest Markus Kane. But this is no isolated incident. This is a big boost for me and I hope I can carry on be ing of use! If there is a game you would like help with or a walkthrough for. He has no idea who his victim is. un like most murders. let me know an d you never know but I may be able to help.. Enjoy! 2. It s not that long and it just lays out a few p oints which you really need to bear in mind if you want good ratings and a confi dent. I do also appreciate all of you who contact me just to let me know that the y found my guide useful. This is much apprecia ted. However. the murderer Lucas Kane.. the murderer is no secret and is just an ordinary man.0 PREPARING FOR THE GAME 2.. the NYPD detective in charge of the Doc s Diner murder. All he can do is try to di scover the truth. before the police catch him. X Run . This murder isn t going to be solved easily. That is until Carla t akes things one step further. Tyler Miles NYPD detective Tyler is troubled by his relationship problems and long working h ours... I nitially she puts the brutal killing down to the work of a psychotic mind.. He s more than ready to wrap up this case immediately.. Markus Kane Markus hadn t heard from his brother for two years until he comes to him with bloo d-stained hands. As a priest he s torn between doing the right thing and his famil y ties. They are also shown in the Manual. But t he ritual pattern left behind makes her look further than the obvious suspect. 3.0 THE WALKTHROUGH

The game is split into scenes. Here is my recommended walkthrough. I highly advi se complete the tutorial first; this won t take much of your time and will follow onto the game. However please note that this does not cover many important aspec ts of the game which I think it should but nonetheless it doesn t so you will need to learn to pick up things as you play.

One point to take notice of is the fact that I DON T tell you what NOT to do durin g the walkthrough itself. For this, check the points guide at the start of each scene description which I have used to show you what has negative effects on you .

3.1 THE MURDER

Note: this chapter is the only one you will play if you are playing a demo versi on. If you are, I hope you go out and buy the damn thing; you won t regret it!

take the mop by the cubical you were in and clean up the blood stains (you will need to repeatedly push the Right Ana logue Stick up to do this). dr ink something from the glass and try to drink from the coffee mug (there are two different drink icons to do this) to see that you could have been with someone at your table. Pick this up to get rid of it. Your m ental status goes from neutral to depressed as you realise what you ve done. wash your hands at the right-hand sink (the o ther is out of order).The game begins with a cutscene which introduces you to your first character and then you ll see a man urinating. You ll need to cover your tracks and reduce the evidence. Then look at your bill and pay at your table. Repeat this moti on until a coin drops out which you should take before leaving the restroom. do the same thing again and you will hit the machine. Lastly. There is a knife on the floor near the urinals. Move to the jukebox near the door and use the coin to play a track. Eat some food. whe n symbols appear and what they mean. Exit the diner and leave the ci ty using either the cab or the subway. However. depending on which you find first! 3. You should begin to learn how you do things in the game.2 INVESTIGATION Playable Characters: Carla. You will have to complete the tasks here reasonably quickly as the police office r will visit the restroom and you need to be gone before he does. Walk towards the vending machine near the door and use it to notice it's broken. Start by dragging the bo dy into the toilet. carving symbols into your arms. He washes his hands casually and doesn t notice yo u sitting on a toilet. Walk to your table (the second one on the right) and sit down. His own body hides you fr om the mirror as you walk up behind him in a trance to stab and kill him. Tyler Bonus Points: N/A Location: . Next. You ll then be in control of Lucas.

Then when you take over as Carla. Let Carla talk to the cop and you will need to decide what to talk about. It isn t too critical as most of what is said will be said one way or another but ask hi m about the waitress last to get most out of him and he ll tell you to take it eas y with her. select the little question mark icon to see that she too has issues before entering the diner. This is a good idea as being sensitive will make her tell you as muc h as possible. I know it seems like getting Lucas into trouble but it's needed f .Doc s Diner Points Drinking coffee (both): +5 Talking to the men at the bar (both): +5 Seeing blood outside (Carla): +5 Getting near the cab (Carla): +10 Finding the book: +10 Putting the jukebox on -10 Talking with homeless guy (both): -10 Using urinal (Tyler): -10 The cutscene which follows will explain that Tyler is having problems so listen to this.

Eithe r character may find the knife here but its location is random and if not then l et Carla look out of the window where she may find it. Then head to the car to finish the scene.or the story. Then have one of your character s talk to the other and at some point in the conversat ion. Carla will be able to examine the blood and a hole on the floor and Tyler will flush the toilet. The knife will be in one of these five locations . Examine everything possible with each character and you will get another officer to examine the Shakespeare book on the floor after.3 THE DAY AFTER Playable Characters: Lucas Bonus Points: 5 Location: Lucas Apartment Points . After speaking with her. Tyler should sear ch the bin or the other toilet. go back out and talk to the guys at the bar again. Outside. If not. When you find the knife. examine the bloody footprints in the snow. get up and go behind the counter to drink some coffee. Go over to her when you finish. Take ea ch character in turn into the cubical which Lucas was in. You can switch with Tyler and make him do the same. Now enter the restroom and let Carla investigate the blood on the floor. select leave. You ll later need to use thi s type of action again so get practice! Talk to the guys at the bar with both Carla and Tyler and then go to the table w here Lucas was sitting. 3. You may find this process di fficult but it s really easy if you follow the movements on the icon while holding the stick forward and gently pulling it to the side.

He doesn t stay long but you must have pulled your sheets o ver. Refer down if you change to Ca rla and return back for Lucas scene later. Open the medicine cabine t above the sink and use the bandages. Be sure not to drink the alcohol you keep under the counter as you have tak en medicine and drinking will kill you. I have the tasks in order below as to what s most important so work quickly and follow my order.4 CONFESSION . Also. Head back into the living room and find a key on the table which you sho uld take. although his staine d sheets and carved arms soon prove otherwise. It doesn t matter too much but I have chosen to continue with Lucas for now. Close the cabinet for another harsh remin der. pick up your shirt near the pillar to see a reminder of th e night before. dressed and put your shirt in the washing machine first (as the wal kthrough will explain) so do these tasks first. Go again to pick this up and go through the side door to your ba throom. make sure you re ready and leave the apartme nt to meet your brother. Once the policeman has been and gone. You will have to complete certain tasks reasonably quickly as a police officer w ill call and you will need to explain that you were the one who the neighbours h eard screaming as you cut yourself with some glass and that it's no problem if h e takes a look inside. Also look in the fridge and drink the milk which you ll find. But feel free to put music on before you leave. Now you have a choice as to which scene you play next. when the of ficer does arrive you really should try to succeed in the mini-game as failing w ill cause trouble later. Now use the toilet and take a shower to clean up after. Look at your bed and then hide the blood under the sheets. 3. washed. Stand up when you have control again and take the medicine which is on your beds ide table. There is y our first bonus card in one of the kitchen cupboards. Now head back to your bedroom and take some clothes out of the wardrobe to put t hem on. Head out of your bedroom and answer the phone when it rings to speak to your bro ther. Take it for five bonus poi nts.Lucas awakes with the misconception that it was all a dream. After the call.

You need to save hi m. Tyler Bonus Points: . Markus will leave you and you ll have a headache and a vision involving a boy who you think will fall. Accept it. jump into the water and work your way through the mini-games to save him and bring him to surface. walk straight ahead to find your brother. since it's an extra life. Run forward.5 POLICE WORK Playable Characters: Carla. Get out of the ice and try to resuscitate him . After the vision he actually does fall. he'll offer you a cross. Markus. Talk with him. an d explain what's going on. 3. The police officer recognises you but doesn t arrest you.

She's unhappy about things so cheer her up. Then you ll hear news about forensic results. head into your office. Get out of bed and walk into the bathroom where you'll find a bonus card. After. Use th e toilet and shower. After. Walk into the living room and talk with your girlfriend by drinking some coffee. before heading back to the room to get clothes out of the c loset. Near your office a guy will ask you about some money Tyler owes him who you can t avoid. switch to Tyler. Go to the coat rack by the door and put your coat on. Use the phone in here to give Tyler a call.10 Location: Park Points Using the toilet (Tyler): +5 Taking a shower (Tyler): +5 Talking with Sam (Tyler): Up to +20 Kissing Sam (Tyler): +10 When you take control of Carla you are at the police station. . Go over to Sam and give her a kiss before heading out to the police station. Head straight ahea d through the metal detectors and up the stairs to enter one of the double doors at the top. People may talk to you when on your way which will lower your mood so try to keep away from people if you can. Now walk to your office in the top right corner.

After you find out all you need to know about the forensic results. Hang up your coat and go out to join Car la at one of the desks. You can check your email first if you like. Again you have a choice. After emails. go across to the third icon on you co mputer main screen to search the police database. I chose to do them in order so again find the one you chose first. this time of three scenes. 3. Enter the office after. head back to your office and use your computer to check your mail. He ll accept. there s one fr om Sam there. On the way. The mysterious email it s ha ppened before is interesting.6 ALTERNATE REALITY Playable Characters: Lucas Bonus Points: 10 Location: Naser & Jones Bank Points Washing hands: +5 Letting Tiffany come over: .Head up to Carla s office as you did before. Scroll up for the word Kirsten t o find that it s a classified entry. Say something about not wanting to lose a friendship over $100 an then offer a preposition of a basketball game where you ll pay him $200 if you lo se. Then leave your computer to end the scene. the guy you owe money to will stop you.

Leave your office and head there using the office plan again. Save yourself. In the restroom you re in pick up the bonus card. you ll offer to fix station 62. In the e nd everyone will be crowding Lucas and wondering what happened. take a cross (a life) out of the draw on Lucas right without loo king at the picture in the other draw. sit at your desk to talk to the guy you share an office with. He ll leave after. 3. and at the end. After this call. Wait here until the phone rings and allow Tiffany to come to collect some thi ngs.7 RECONSTRUCTION Playable Characters: Carla Bonus Points: N/A . wash your hands and head out through the door. lots of bugs will a ppear and try to kill you. Then go to work on your computer. everyone will be wondering what's wrong A sequenc e of tricky mini-games will follow so save yourself as best as you can. Get the next min-game right and you ll see the guy spill his coffee cup before it actuall y happens. Use the map at the top of the screen to see that your office is at the top and h ead there.+10 Looking at photo in draw: -5 So Lucas killed a guy but still decided to come into work. You ll likely see strange bugs and other weird visions on the way but continue reg ardless. When the other guy does get the phone call. Inside. If you get the mini-game right you ll notice you have visions as you read his min d. Once you get there and are working on the computer.

Just listen and concentrate on the mini-games to re construct what happened. The scene will then end. 3.8 TYLER & KATE Playable Characters: None Bonus Points: N/A Location: Police Station Points None .Location: Mortuary Points Doing well: +10 Doing poorly: -10 This scene is fairly simple. Ask a few questions at the end and hear more about this Kirsten .

I do awful at this part every time but it doesn t reall y matter.9 LOST LOVE Playable Characters: Lucas Bonus Points: None Location: Lucas Points Apartment Using toilet: +5 Playing music: +5 Drinking alcohol once: +5 Playing guitar well: +10 . Do your best bu t I wouldn t be too bothered about the outcome as it s hard to remember when you don t have him in front of you. 3.Tyler will ask Kate to make an image Lucas using their software.

Tiffany is coming over tonight. After getting her boxes you can let her leave or if you re nice to her she ll ask yo u to play guitar. Play well and she ll like you more. The bottle can be found underneath t he breakfast bar. One is near the kitchen and the other in the c orner of your bedroom. However if this happens you ll awake after and something clearly isn t right. You ll then need to find her boxes. You can still let her leave or kiss her and if she likes you enough you ll have sex with her. When you wake up Tiffany will be at the door so go and let her in. Use the toilet and wash you hands before returning to your ro om and sleeping. Take the medicine on your be dside table again. Offer her a g lass of gin before going to get it for her.Taking medicine: +10 Sleeping: +10 Giving Tiffany a drink: +10 Sleeping with Tiffany: +30 Dreaming: -20 Drinking alcohol more than once: -20 Tiffany leaving when you kiss her: -30 Lucas will wake up. You can get up and do .

To do this. Markus and his friends decide to go to a forbidden area Hanger 4.stuff if you like such as turn off the TV but in the end go back to bed and to s leep. Lucas is sitting alone while Markus and his friends are playing. Military Base Points Saving all the children: +10 Thinking about the past (Lucas): -20 Walk towards the grave of your mother and talk to Markus. This will alternate before you need to just push it forward at the t op. But soon after they leave Young Lucas will have a vision about a fire and goes to rescue his brother and his friends. 3. Walk to the north-eastern part of the map. Markus wants Lu cas to go and play with them but Lucas isn't interested. Young Lucas Bonus Points: None Location: Cemetery. and climb the fence where it s covered by gauze. . Leave your flowers at the grave and you will think back to time as a kid. push the stick in the direction it tells you and then spin it upward.10 HIDE AND SEEK Playable Characters: Lucas.

Even if you don t save them all. When it passes. Tyler Bonus Points: 10 Location: Gymnasium Points Drinking something (both): . Inside. Enter the hangar on the left through the gap at the end of the walkway. move up to it and wait close until it passes. a t least you ll have saved your brother. leaving you in between the two hangers. When you see the truck here.After that. You ll need to move alo ng the fence ahead.11 FRIENDLY COMBAT Playable Characters: Carla. you will tell Markus leave and that you ll look for the rest. There s one lad upstairs at the end of the platform (the stairs are near the front of the hanger). go straight forward into the gap between the h angers. moving towards the left until you find a gap in the fence. It is possib le to get all the boys out in time but it isn t easy and depends on whether or not you got the mini-game right. one in the plane near these stair s and one at the back of the hanger in a crate. From here on it gets a bit harder. 3. Move right behind the blockage and move forwa rd behind another lot of crates. Hanger 4b is straight ahead of you with a guard standing next to it and another guard stood by the hanger to the right. You won't be seen if you do this correctly. walk straight ahead being sure not to be seen. Wait here until a truck passes by and then walk up to the side of it. Now a cutscene will see Markus give Lucas the details of someone who could help. C rawl through this gap.

If you don t win you ll need to go again. I find this useful sometimes. You ll fight as Carla. When you re both ready. With one of your characters collect the bonus card from the other side of the ri ng before fighting. walk up to the ring and fight. After doin g this with Carla.12 DEBRIEFING (CARLA) Playable Characters: Carla Bonus Points: 10 Location: .+5 Warming up (both) +10 Winning (Carla) +20 Failing training a few times (both) -5 As Carla. 3. If you tire out your hands you can pause during these. switch and do the same with Tyler. drink something and do two different training courses. otherwise it s up to you whether you play again or continue the game.

Go to the valve on the right and use it to move the first lot. This will now reveal the power controls which you should go and use. What you need to do now. when the thing in the bar moves. Take the bonus card here and then walk to the gate. use the valve on the left f ollowed by the valve on the right to clear a path. the one just next to terminal. right. Now from this room turn to the other side of the room and turn the left valve he re. and keep her breath under control by pressing left. move through and turn the val ve you come to. left etc. It s fairly simple to find the controls.Police Station Points Finding the right tape: +20 Getting too scared: -10 Please note that there are two chapters with this name so don t get confused! Carla explains she doesn t like small spaces and she ll hate it even more when they re dark. This will reveal a walkway where you will be able to take the ri ght tape off a high shelf. Next. Turn the on light nea rby before opening the gate. . Straight ahead you'll see that big cases are blocking the path. Again. In this li ttle walkway you ll also be able to pick up some files starting with k which you s hould do before returning back to the terminal. This tape is not the right tape. Come back out and turn the valve you turned previously and then move over to the valve on the right-hand side to turn this. is control Carla by holding the left and right mouse bu tton. not the right year. You would find several of these tapes but I will now direct you to the right one. simply go through the gap on the left and turn the valve to the right before doing the same with the valve down the left. Move forward and turn the valve on the left. You'll now find a terminal. b ut the power will shut down.

Then head back to the stairs. Take this as wel l.

He'll give an example book and tell you to find a book that looks like it. Leave the shop. You'll see it's written by "De Grutt ola". Go there. Book 1796 is on the third level and that as the author begins with d it i s in the white part of the level. Walk up the stairs. He won't help you unless you help him first. and look at the book here. After talking. You'll find out De Gruttola has the number 1796.14 AGATHA Playable Characters: Lucas Bonus Points: 30 Location: Agatha s House Points Completing: +20 Failing: -5 . Then ask him about the book. picking up another card worth another 20 bonus points at the foot of the stairs on the way out. take the book to the desk to look at it under the magnifier. and find the book. Give the book to the man and ask about clients. go to leave and he ll offer help. Then look at the book on the stand b ehind him and go back to speak with him again. Firstly. He ll be of little use anyway.Talk with the old Chinese man on the floor. 3. Now go back down and look at the book on the table behind the man.

Now with Lucas again. It's up ahead on the left. The matches are table so take them and head back to the living room. First enter her bath room to take a bonus card worth 20 points. enter the next room to find Agatha on a chair in her bedroom. Keep up as best you can and you eventually will be told to return tomorrow. From there. 3. Th en talk to Agatha again and push her back into the living room. over by the door. After she speaks. She ll now tell you that you need candles and matches. head back to the and take the door in this hall which you haven t yet used. Ring the d oorbell and then enter. Agatha is blind. Put the three candles he table and light them. A series of those wonderful mini-games will follow where you will find out a lot more about your night in the diner. Take the seed from the cabinet and feed the birdies. so you need to push her in her wheelchair. cupboa hall on the on t Now do as she asks. The light switch is over by the door so go over and use it. Walk straight ahead to the door at the end and go into t he living room. Close both curtains and then go to sit in the chair next to Agatha. She wants to feed her pets so head out into the hall and take the door one Lucas right. get to Agatha s house. You'll have to ask questions and shoot targets. get him to tell you more about his investigation. 3. Ent er the booth he was shooting from to begin.
