Information Security The protection of information and its elements including systems, hardware that are used, store

and transmit the information.

Primary Goals

CIA triangle known as security triad tells the primary goals of Information System 1. Confidentiality making sure the no one would see the information. 2. Integrity making sure that the information has not been changed from its original state. 3. Availability making sure that information is available for use when you need it.

Data Types

1. Public 2. Private/Internal 3, Confidential 4. Secret

Public data is shown to all end users Private/Internal A group of company people only know, but outside people should not know like Personal Identification Number (PIN) Confidential Data is used by limited number of private users, and should not be known to the majority of workers. Secret Data is known by the very high authority person only. Lose of this data may cause critical damage to the company.
