From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search The Governor of the Reserve Bank of India is the most senior banker and the chairperson of the Board of Directors of RBI, India's central bank. The banknotes issued by RBI in India has the signature of the Governor. Since its establishment in 1935, the RBI has seen 22 Governors. Sir Osborne Smith was the first-ever Governor of RBI. The position is currently held by Raghuram Rajan, who took over from Dr D. Subbarao on 4th September 2013 and is scheduled to hold office till 4th September 2016
