Violence is the expression of physical force against oneself or others, behaviour that is intended to hurt other people physically. Worldwide, violence is used as an instrument of manipulation and is an area of concern for law and culture that take attempts to stop it. First of all, violence can take many forms anywhere from the physical confrontation between two people when they can be bodily harmed, to war and genocide where millions may die as a result. Some of the hardest form of violence to contemplate is physical and mental violence against a child, and yet it occurs all too frequently. Child abuse of any sort is difficult to understand, as the victims are young and incapable of fighting back or defending themselves at all. But there is also domestic violence, which seems to be the biggest and most serious social problems in our society in the recent times. In most of the cases the result of domestic violence is that one partner is injured. It might be minor or major injuries and sometimes permanent, like death. The most frequent cause of this kind of violence is directly related to absence of the basic requirements in life, which encourages both partners to start a fight with each other. Other forms of violence in our society would be violence in cities, in schools, social abuse, sexual abuse or psychological and emotional abuse. Second of all, there are causes of the violence like the accumulation of stress, the disappointments, the anxieties or frustrations of childhood. A child who is hit, beaten or threatened will have a tendency to become violent himself. Sexual abuse and emotional neglect are also hurts that can lead to violent tendencies. Third of all, the consequences are in most of the cases physical harm, but also behaviour problems, depression, homelessness, sickness or even crime. To prevent violence, we first must stop harming children, hitting or beating them. We also need to protect kids from violent scenes on television or videos. More research should be devoted to proactive efforts of preventing family domestic violence before it ever occurs. In conclusion, we should try to avoid violence as much as we can and to be peaceful for the good of all.
